    what bike did you have?

another 1 of my hobbies... is vintage bmx

as we were pretty poor growing up i never actually had a brand new bike bought for me at any time of my childhood, i did have a second hand 1 and a few hand me downs though
and i went to work at 14 saved up and bought my own , a kuwahara laserlite , wish i still had that 1 now

i have a few vintage bmx now, i have a mongoose california in chrome and blue, i have a falcon pro and 3 raleigh burners... will post pics when i get round to it. 1 of my burners is hoping to be a show piece? well i may not actually ever show it i just wanted 1 mint brand new as a kid so i suppose im trying to re-create that effect, and its expensive doing this mint 1 , im probably lying as it could be more but i think ive spent around £400/$800 on it so far... im hopig it be worth it though

what bmx or other bikes did you guys have?
i know most of the brands, skyway, cw, pk ripper, puch, hutch, haro, kuwahara, and so on
will be interesting to hear any stories and pics would be great

My Dad bought me a St. Louis Cardinals football logo bike from Sears many many moons ago when I was a kid. This was the best way that I could describe it as I do not know who actually made it. It was a very nice bike. I still have it to this day hanging up in my garage. At the time I really wanted a more dirt bike style of bike as my friends all jumped ramps and did wheelies and stunts with their bikes. My Dad was doing what he thought was the right thing at the time by buying me a real nice bike. So I ended up modifiying it a bit with some of my friends help. Now, I kind of wish I would not have modified now that I am older and looking at it from a collector/investor stand point. I would like to find out more about these bikes although I do not know what to look under to even begin my search. Does anyone else here know or remember what the heck I am even rambling about here?

I have no idea what I had.

there was a box of bike parts my brother bought from some kids that lived next to my Grandma. He took the best parts and cleaned them and painted them and made me a custom bike out of them. I still have it

Redline 150b BMX. I added foot pegs when they came out, and could do a few tricks.

An antifreeze green Kool Kat. Awesome bike! Found one on eBay a few years ago and bought it. I still have to restore it, though. In the meantime I got one the Schwinn Sting Ray reproductions they were selling at Wal Mart last year for $40 on sale. Very cool. Displayed in my toy room.

First I remember was a Sears Spyder in the ever popular Flamboyant Gold. Added a sissy bar, Cheeta print banana seat and head rest, turn signals and a Vroooom. Then one Christmas got Sears Screamer 5 speed, eh.

Eventually built a BMX out of the Spyder using Dorcey parts I got from a neighbor in payment for mowing his lawn, he was a distributor or something? Superwide BMX style bars and plate. Square seat with short sissy bar and rims with those super heavyduty spokes.

Went to work for my mothers boss one summer and pieced together a Redline MXII, the nickle one just after the squareback. Blue Tuffs, V-bars, Tuff Neck, Ashtabula cranks...... Wish I still had it around.

Last one was a money pit. White Redline Proline, Cook Brothers hubs and bearings throughout, Dura Ace cranks, Redline neck/pedals/ V bars, Araya rims w/skinwalls. Really a lightweight bike for the day.

I still remember my buddies rides. 3 Strokers, a Webco, a Motomag/Mongoose, a Dan Gurney (aluminum I think?), one guy even rode a full blown Cook Brothers $$$$$ Seen two of those Strokers break, both at the top tube/head tube weld.

I have a Redline Proline cruiser hanging in the garage right now, it's a 90's model though.
