Yea, you're right, I remember it seemed like he would take forever to come down. Mine got stuck in plenty of trees and phone lines!Comment

Does anyone know what the alpha probe space shuttle originally retailed for? For some reason I thought it was pretty expensive (was it close to the 100.00 range?) and why I was never allowed to buy it. I just remember staring at it endlessly on the toy store shelves wishing I could get it"What motivated him to throw a puppy at the Hells Angels is currently unclear,"

I am more with CTC on this one, I think it did run for $80-120. Something about 120 is ringing a bell when I kept seeing it on the shelf at KayBee toys. I was a bit spoiled in those younger years and thirty dollars would fly with my mom. Pretty sure it was way above what she would have considered being a normal price range"What motivated him to throw a puppy at the Hells Angels is currently unclear,"

Man. I had the shuttle, sports van and marine search team. That shuttle went perfectly with Super Powers/Secret Wars figures. The parachute in the sports van set worked amazingly well. I haven't seen that thing in decades, but man o' man, I used to drop it from out porch and he sailed!
Wow..I had the black alien ship, all the single aliens, the kayak, raft and deep sea diver! I think I had the sea explorer too, because that looks like the boat my Jaws ripoff would always attack.
Holy...I have no idea what happened to any of it. Last time we moved cross-country, some SOB storage service outside Pittsburgh "lost" lord knows how many boxes. I didn't buy it then, I still don't today.
You don't lose a box with a boxed At-At, Kraken, Death Star and about a dozen other boxed toys...Comment

I had the sea explorer, I had to go to my Mom's job because we had no sitter while she worked. To keep me still she bought me the Sea explorer set and I was in heaven all day playing with it.....became an instant Fav bath toy for me.Comment

>The shuttle wasn't more than 40.
That seems weird, 'cos I remember it being really pricey. Maybe that's a Canada thing? Or maybe it got marked down fairly early in the run? (I remember the Adventure People disappearing shortly after the space stuff came out.)

The shuttle disappeared off the shelves around me way before the line really started hitting the reduced or clearance prices

I had a Zen like moment recently when it comes to adventure people let me explain..
I just turned 40 a couple weeks ago. On my birthdays as a kid I would always get adventure people as much as star wars and since star wars stuff would fly off the shelves where I lived I would get more adventure people toys. My mother kept all our toys that we didn't destroy as kids and my niece plays with them today.
On my birthday a couple weeks ago my niece was on the ground playing with one of the action vans which has stood the test of time. I got it for my birthday in 1979. I picked it and just stared at it thinking of all the good memories I had with it. My mom brought out our family albums later that day I found a pic of me opening that same toy on my bday in 79 and the excited look on my face! I got really choked up..I would love to post the pics but my scanner is down for the moment.
Well that's my story and keep the stories coming! Adventure people was as big as star wars or gi joe in my childhood!Comment
