    KISS new album?

Alright, I am sure a good deal of you guys were Kiss fans in the 70s just like me. I mean who wasnt ? Seriously. I thought Kiss meets The Phantom of the Park was a god movie till I saw last year for the first time since 1978. I had all the albums, posters, a Kiss Van model kit. I had the Ace and Gene Megos ( no I dont have them anymore, I wish I did. I remember when Kiss Alive 2 came out with the book and the Tatoos inside, I remember my Aunt taking me to get it when it came out , I got the vinyl I believe she got a cassette of it. She got me all 4 solo albums when they came out and I can remember playing the Ace one over and over and over ( I still love the song New York Groove). In 1979 she took me to see the Dynasty tour in Columbia SC. It totally blew me out of the water. I had no idea there was really going to be fire and explosions like that. To this day she talks about the expression on my face when they came out on stage. I was only 9 years old, first concert ever.
And then , I just got out of them. And started to loathe them , especially in the 80s and 90s. I watched all the first renunion tour hoopla ( I even saw them 3 times in the 80s) Didnt catch the renunion, wish I would have.
Flash forward to last memorial day weekend. That friday I was getting off work in the afternoon and this guy gives me 2 tickets to see the Kiss Army tribute band here in Augusta, saying he could make it. I went home, thought about it for a minute, and said what the hey Ill check it out. I was blown out of the water ( they didnt play anything past about 1980 i think).
After the show I rushed to Wal_mart and brought every old Kiss cd they had out ( Destroyer, Love Gun was all they had) . I guess all those memories came back, and I releazid I dont have to love everything they have done to love them do I?
Which brings me to now, and something I wasnt aware, and that there are 2 people dressed as Ace and Peter. Kinda shocked me, And now I hear they are doing a new cd, so what are you fellow Kiss fans ( especially those of you like me that love the old KISS) think of this? It sad to me, and I really wish theyd let it go and call it day...........................

I was not a big Kiss fan growing up but my step-brother was. He had tons of stuff and all the records. I feel that Kiss, like the Rolling Stones, should just call it a day.

I loved Kiss when I was a kid and still will play some of their songs every now and then.

I have to give Gene Simmons his props. He was the marketing genius behind Kiss and licensed out their image to just about every product imaginable.

I am guessing he will continue to go back to the well as long as it is there and why not? If the fan base is still there and people are willing to buy the stuff, keep on churning it out.

Tommy Thayer replaced Ace years ago and does a great job. Last time I saw Ace 9 years ago he was an old man on stage. Stood there playing the music. His arm flab wiggling and his cheek jowels drooping!

New KISS IKONS trading cards come out April 15

          GENE CHECKS IN!

          Date: March 27

Today, went through the entire set we intend on playing in the forthcoming SOUTH AMERICAN swing of our KISS Alive 35 World Tour. If you've seen some of the media coming out of S. America, you'll notice we're mostly playing soccer stadiums...and we're told the tix are almost all gone.

Today was a special day -- we all lined up to get Yellow Fever shots. Great. No one was anxious to get stung by a needle, but if that's what it takes for us to get together with 50,000 close friends we'll role up our sleeves.

We've also been recording our first New Studio Album in 11 years!!!. Produced by Paul Stanley. And, having Paul simply decide things, works better. Democracy is highly overrated. Paul is kickin' ***. The material sounds great and Tommy and Eric are in great form.

We have 4 tunes recorded. If you're a fan of our stuff from about 1977, you'll feel right at home. All of us have taken up the songwriting call to arms in the same spirit we once did -- without a care in the world and without outside writers. Nothing to prove to anyone. Just doing what comes naturally. Ignoring fashions, trends and with a personal vow from all of us: no rapping. There are plenty of people out there doing this and they don't need four palefaced guys pretending they're from the hood. Besides, I'm not sure how to correctly pronounce "wassup."

Tommy is finishing his solo tune. Sounds great, I can tell you. And Eric is going to sing on the album.

Most importantly, we are having the time of our lives, and can't wait to see our friends South of the Border.

We hop on our jet April 1st, on the way to gig #1-Santiago.

See you all there...Or maybe later!

My understanding is that when the band broke up Gene & Paul ended up owning the Kiss name & images, so basically Peter & Ace were hired hands.
            Is that correct?

Hey Hey easy on the Ace put downs man !!!! Aces playing was a good deal of the Kiss sound, and by far he was the most talented player of the band!!
Tommy Thayer doesnt bother me. Tommy Thayer dressed as ACe does. Get your own image dude. While Gene $immon$ and Paul $tanley own the name and image all that, Peter and Ace did create the stage personas they had. Anyone who has ever seen a Ace solo show and chatted with him after can attest to the fact he is a very cool and down to earth guy and will answer anything you ask him.
Johnny, I am not sure of the logistics of the reunion and how it worked, but I do know that Ace and Peter were told it was to last 3-4 years tops and that they would end the band, But Gene and Paul had other ideas in mind that Peter and Ace werent aware of.
And lets be honest, this is band who hasnt put out a listenable album in 30 years, dont try and tell me Pshyco Circus was good. I love them to death, but its long long over.
Oh yeah, Aces face? How about Pauls fake hips and Genes plastic face? Atleast Ace is keepin it real man, Ace is Ace and I think that is why he is still well loved................................

Ace's playing was still good. He just could not pull off the makeup or energy anymore.

Maybe he wasnt that into it, I think it was cool they did it, and I regret missing it, Maybe he didnt like to play songs he didnt play on in the first place ? Didnt they play songs from all aspects of Kisses career?

25th anniversary tour. All of their hits and a few oddballs. The energy of their early shows just is not there anymore.

                    Hell neither is my energy!

                    Still love the music!

It depends on how you define talent. Ace is probably the best musically but Gene was the most talented in marketing the band.

Also, I know Ace was a heavy drug user which isn't unusual but also why he looks so ragged.

Ive always heard that Ace was the drinker and Peter was the druggie.
Even see that show with Tom Snyder where Ace is hilariously trashed?
I dont think Ace looks that bad for his age compared to alot of people from back then that are his age.
I think the whole maketing thing got started by Bill Acoin and Kisses label, Gene just kept the ball rolling.

That's a classic interview, one of my favourites. It's too bad that the KISSOLOGY box set only has part of the interview instead of the whole thing, it misses a lot of the good stuff.

I have to admit that I still have soft spot for good ol' for KISS. Yes, they may be corny, but they were corny back when they were young. And sure they market all kinds of annoying crap, but what the heck, if I could make money that way, you bet I would be doing it. And their newer music may be in even more questionable taste then their old music, but as long as folks still buy the stuff, I say let them do their thing.

Back in the day, I attended my fair share of KISS concerts. I even painted KISS pumpkins one Halloween. In adulthood, they are not my favorite band, but I will always have some KISS songs on my ipod or whatever takes it's place in the future.
