would you call the batman glove FrankenAquaMan a "variation"?
and if yes, is it because of the visible nature of the oddity? or something else?

    Curiously,

Well, a variation usually is something that was done on purpose (removable cowl or painted cowl, different paint job, new card or new art on card, that sorta stuff), but with these FrankenAquamans Mego just slapped 'em together with whatever they had. The fact that there are so many different ones is proof of that. Mego didn't even try to make 'em all look the same, they didn't care, as long as their surplus parts got used and the figures left the factory. So I'd hardly call the different FrankenAquamans a variation, they're just what they are: a figure made of parts thrown together

      I like this discussion, Meule!

So, according to your definition, a variation would be how Robin appears on different backer cards, or how some figures had sewn on sleeves at one point.

And going with that logic, the FrankenAquaman, by virtue of its Franken nature, is already a figure that is known to have these different parts slapped together, and is not a variation.

But I'm still left to think that in the continuum of Aquaman figures (Solid Box, Window Box, Box art changes, Purple card, Red card, Kresge card, Webbed hand, SOS), that the Franken is one MORE variation.
I would say further that the Franken has its own subset of variations within it, but that just the Franken itself could be considered a variation like any other I mentioned above.

      Does that make sense?

Yeah, I guess you could say the Franken itself (no matter how many different ones there are) is a variation inside the Mego Aquaman card universe. But I wouldn't go as far as saying the different Frankens are variations

That makes sense, and at the same time, it goes against how the buying/selling world would value a Blue Gloved Franken differently from a Normal Aquaman on Yellow Card Franken.

VERY interesting! I learn something new every time I'm here! LOL!

            One question, Captain:

Those are Trek boot legs. I got a loose Aquaman a few years back in a lot of stuff who suffered from the same malady. I thought it was just some parts bashing going on...looks like it might have been a factory mistake now that I've seen this picture.

I've seen a loose Spidey like this too...Again, I assumed parts bashing...now...who knows

Does your figure have black boot legs or Caucasian colored boot legs? Did Mego cast them in a different color or just use left over Trek boot legs?

Do you still have the Franken? If so, can you post pics?

somebody may have mentioned this, but I noticed from one of your pics that Mego even put the Aquaman emblem on upside down at times...

It would be awesome if the boot part was molded in green and it was done to enhance Aquaman's look. Highly unlikely, but I like to think about stuff like that.
