Great newsletter.
I like that Creepshow figure!
Thanks for including my Super Powers Theater.
Sorry no Svengoolie Theater, the materials I would need for Mysterious Island are packed away and I do not remember what box has the giant crabs.Last edited by monitor_ep; May 2, '25, 12:57 PM.Visit my wiki site:

The Hiveworld concept looks pretty cool. Sectaurs mixed with micronauts. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

Another great newsletter with some very cool customs. So is the Gillman for real?
it has been said that back in the day, Mego’s Mad Monsters was in the process of adding the Gillman to the collection but for some reason it fell through, so we got the Neptunian instead.
I remember as a kid, I got Neppy even though it wasn’t actually a Star Trek alien, but it just looked so cool, plus it was a good monster for Aquaman to fight.
oh and by the way, what red blooded american kid in the 70’s didn’t want to be Jack Lord?Comment

Man alive, is it Christmas? The newsletter is jam-packed with goodies this week! Thanks for your selfless dedication!
Totally serious about that. How many people would consistently carve time out of their busy lives to bring cheer to a bunch of old (but still rakishly handsome) toy collectors? Everyone at the Museum is much appreciated!
(Gonna need a case of that "knockoff" Gillman, just sayin'!)Comment

I really enjoy these Newsletters: thank you for continuing to do this!
I watched the You Tube video about the unproduced HiveWorld concept from the late 1990s and was struck by how the concepts seemed to me to evidence more influence by the Sectaurs (as mentioned above in this thread) than the Micronuats (as referenced by the designer in the video a few times). But I could definitely also see the Art Deco influence, which the designer ascribed to Flash Gordon and the Batman of that era. I also thought that the Sectoid 'bad guys' bore a striking resemblance to the bad guys in Dollar Tree's Final Faction line of $1 figures, from the COVID lockdown era a few years ago, more than 20 years later.
I was also interested in that Gillman Mego figure. I am probably not as plugged in to regular toy news as many/most here. But my impression from a distance is that, over the last year or so, Mego has announced several upcoming figures, but they've been slower to release than previously. Or, that's my personal impression anyway. I am definitely interested in the upcoming next wave of World's Greatest Super Heroes, including Cyborg and Hawkman (among others). But I haven't seen news of the impending release of that wave. Also interested in the 89 Batman and Matrix figures, shown off at a recent toy show. But I'm not clear when they will be released either. Did the retro WGSH for Disney Stores and the rush work on the Atlas line divert their time and resources for a bit maybe?Comment

The Gillman head sculpt is pushing some good buttons for me. Nice to see the reissued Neptunian boots, too.
Now, will these actually be obtainable? Walmart sucks.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

This same rhetorical question came to my mind. I was able to get an Atlas Grim Ghost earlier this year from Walmart, but that was only after my original pre-order was unilaterally cancelled by Walmart and then I happened to see it actually for sale on the website (briefly, as it turned out). Just a month or two earlier, Walmart unilaterally cancelled two other pre-orders I had placed several months earlier, just when the figures became available. I promised myself at the time that I wouldn't place another pre-order with Walmasrt again.Comment

I wanted Grim Ghost. Had I obtained it, I would also have bought Hour of the Dragon and Phoenix. Without it, no sales.
I did buy Phoenix later at a good price on ebay for a custom, but that's another discussion.
I collect MOTU Origins, and those WM exclusives are a nightmare. So, I'm concerned for Creepshow. All my local WM are pretty shabby.
