I had no idea some people didn't like the Plaid Stallions stuff. I always enjoy it. I really dig 70s toys and pop cuture. Weird. Just no pleasing some people I guess.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return... -
I had made the comment that Brian should make his own section just for plaidstallion, not because it is in "classic toys", but because I miss them some times and they are already on or near page two. By no means was this a complaint, I think they are cool and would love to see them in one spot (other than the PS site). It was kind of a round about compliment, saying they deserve their own section.
I don't think he took this the wrong way, he never commented on my suggestion.
As for financing the MM, I am a member of another toy forum that voluntarily supported by the members annually. There was no reward for the support other than a small icon on my aviator and access to one extra section.
I understand it being a thankless job. As some people said, you only hear the complaints, and the people who don't have any problems, just mind their own business.sigpicComment

I know I'm coming to this party a little late, but I felt like I had to say something.
Aside from my own Shaun Cassidy site, this is my favorite place online, and pretty much the first forum I visit everyday. It's great to know that there are other toy geeks like me who fondly remember the toys and times associated with them. I've been here almost a year (In April) now, and I've tried to be a part of this community, even though I'm (A) a woman, and (B), still comparitively new to this site.
Scott, Brian and Dave are to be commended. They work hard at making this website a fun place to be. I really LOVE PlaidStallions (being the 70s diva that I am), the trading cards are stupendous and I was thrilled to be able to participate in that. I love talking about the things that make us laugh, think, and even the stuff that ticks us off, b/c that's what members of a community are supposed to do. I've learned so much about customizing, (b/c I never even knew that aspect of toy collecting existed), and I'm now trying some myself. I've made new friends (2 of which I've had the pleasure to meet), and really enjoy interacting w/ those I haven't met.
As far as I'm concerned, bellyachers and nay-sayers can be shown the door. And if you're truly not happy w/ the content here, you're perfectly welcome to start your own website, though I can say w/ almost absolute certainty, it won't be nearly half as great as this one is!This site has been mentioned on other sites and in magazines, we have Doc Mego, who is as far as I'm concerned a Mego God amongst us mere mortals for all the hard work he puts into restoring our precious toys and Mego memories. I can't remember who, but I know some member here is responsible for "Robot Chicken", which is something many members enjoy. We also have Paul ane Joe D. for supplying us w/ some of the other tools the customizers need. In many ways, we're downright spoiled! Where else are you gonna get FIRST HAND INFO about all the cool behind the scenes stuff that happened at Mego and is currently happpening at EMCE? And most of us take this sorta thing for granted. Some of us don't appreciate the time, labor, aggravation and gratification that goes into what we all have come to know as Mego Museum. Well, I do.
THANK YOU SCOTT, BRIAN, & DAVE FOR MAKING MM THE AWESOME SITE IT IS AND FOR ALL YOU PUT INTO IT!"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

Bloody naysayers! I love this site. I think it has invaluable information, great ideas and a really great group of people, Veteran and Newbie. I appreciate the hard work that goes into it. I draw inspiration from others, and hope I can contribute something to the site as well. I am glad there are no politics or religon. I get enough of that elsewhere. This is a nice escape, and I enjoy my time here.
Cheers and respect to all the Veteran Megoer's who have put so much of their time, energy and resources into this site. Thank you, Nate."Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came."Comment

As a newbie here, I just wanted to add that I think all of the hard work is wonderful. I wish I had the time and money to add to a very small collection, but as was mentioned earlier, the real world of work, kids, and everyday things hinders one's free time. I've been very pleased with the welcome I got having only been here a month and haven't felt scared to ask a question or post a new thread. That's wonderful. I for one am glad that there is a "no politics" rule (keeps everyone friendly) and that the site is devoted to the world that surrounds the history of Megos, too. As like in Art History, when studying the masters, you have to know a bit about how the world was then to understand "why" a painting or sculpture looks the way it does, has the content it has, survived through the ages. - - I think that in our own end of the twentieth century way, the "non-mego" stuff on this site is just as vital to the world of Mego from the 1970's through to the custom figures of today.

Plaid Stallions Is Great,.. as well as the Comicbook Forum, & Being able to talk about Action Figures in general. I'm into so much crap,.. & Am such an addict when it comes to toys,.. it's great to be able to get involved in other toys & Super Hero action figures & Comicbook Discussions here as well as Mego. I don't know Much about the "Forum of Yester Yrs" ,.. But this place is OK, just how it is in My Book.Big thanks Guys.

First of all I'd like to apologize to Brian, Scott, Joe and Dave. If you're looking for ideas to improve the Museum, I got none cause this place already is the best. The galleries are constantly being updated with new pics and new info. With each new figure that is being reproduced, Dave updates the accessory checks. We have interviews and pics from former employees and executives. We have info and pics from prototypes and unproduced toys. In the past couple of years we've seen new discoveries, like Jet Jungle and the Basa figures to name but a few. We even know the origin of most of the art on the Mego cards and boxes.
Sure, there have been less questions in Mego Facts, but that's normal. With all the newly added info in the galleries and the accessory checks everything you want to know is right here for everyone to see. And with Ben's book who could possibly still have a WGSH related question? It's all in there!
I'm not a fan of all the forums either, but at least everything is neatly ordened according to subject. If there's something you're not interested in, simply skip that particular forum. But overall I check most forums. I doubt the Museum would be what it is today without them, the combined knowledge is what made the galleries. The pics come from various collections from various members.
All I can add is my eternal gratitude for all the hard work Brian, Scott, Joe and Dave have done and are continuously doing, each day."...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

To all of the people who run, help out, post, and read~ I hope any comments I make were never taken as a direct shot to anyone who contributes to this museum~ I have stressed that a 1000 times in every post~ An believe it or not I have made plenty of positive posts~ Maybe some of my thoughts are of the Crazy old uncle mentality~ But I only post because I care~ I do not see things the way most people do here, but I truly do love this site~ I have never been anything but honest and forthright with my opinions, buying and selling here~ I have never grandstanded to make friends, or have never made posts with vicious content to gain enemys(PERHAPS I HAVE TAKEN A FEW POT SHOTS)~ All I ever gave was my honest opinion, which is what this forum is for~
And for the record, all I have ever stated was that I DO NOT WANT MEGO COLLECTING to become Star Wars collecting~ Also like I said maybe this hobby is just passing me by~ It's not the value of figures I care about, (most of my stuff was bought along time ago, when no one wanted Megos) It's the fact that I still want it to mean something when someone owns a prestige piece~ It just doesn't feel like that anymore~ Again it's probaly just me~ I don't have any gripes about the site updates, the Mego Buzz, about the people who run this forum~ There is no other site I would rather post to than this one~ I post because I care, and posts are because I do not want this hobby and this forum to destroy itself~ But I guess they just may be warnings from a crazy 36 year old lunatic to most~
I have always offered (and I know many of you have also) pics of anything in my collection to this museum to the Mego book, and I would always do anything I could to help out~
By the way, I told you Brian I was sorry for all those names I called you and I wasn't gonna really cause you bodily harm~ (Thank you for lifting that restraing order)
I even like my Mego Museum Mortal Enemies~

This is the only I don't understand about your post. How could this hobby and this forum possibly destroy itself? I could seethis happen if we didn't have customs and new figures. Really, without those how long do you think it would be before people said everything there is to say about the original Megos? Same goes for a Mego collector who has every original Mego. Where do you go after that? Customs and new figures! And the non-Mego related forums also help keep this place alive. Really, I don't see this place dying"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

I posted about this subject in the recent Auction Watch thread, so I won't ramble about it here too. But I just want to say basically, I love the Mego Museum, I think the amount of new and interesting Mego info that pops up here is amazing, and I love the additional non-Mego content here as well. It never gets boring or stagnant here, and that's quite a feat. Plus the fact that the Mego Museum site and forum is kept so organized, orderly and that things are handled sensibly and in a civilized manner is, quite frankly, amazing! I'm sorry if Brian and anyone else is feeling alot of negativity lately, because they don't deserve anything but accolades for all the hard work and entertainment they provide.
And Plaid Stallions kicks butt, my wife and I both enjoy it. I'm quite thankful to have the Museum and PS to enjoy on a daily basis.Comment

I a real new guy....but I joined here and quickly realised this is one of the best forums I had the pleasure of joining
I love the 70s and this place is all things 70s and more.
Keep up the good workComment

As far as the non-Mego content like Classic Toys/Plaid Stallions I prefer the toy-related posts but do get a chuckle out of looking at old 70s fashions. My only suggestion is a renaming of that particular forum to emphasize that it's just not Classic Toys and contains other topics. But other than that I have no problems reading about the latest adventures of Brick Mantooth and friends.
And one of my favorite non-Mego forums is Comic Books, which in itself appears to be the 5th most popular forum overall on this board, so obviously there is an interest in it as well as the other non-Mego stuff. If there wasn't there'd be the noise of crickets chirping and not much else...Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Well, I'll be the first to admit I haven't posted as often as I have in the past but it's not because I don't want to. Like most of us I've just got life going on right now. I've been working 50 hours a week since Christmas, have 3 kids who all have things going on and I'm drawing what I hope to be plans for our new house, complete with my toy room. So I've been pretty busy. But I do come by at least once a day, either before work starts or late at night. I may not log on but I try to read any new post and try to keep up with what's going on.
Being a member of the original Levy list I've seen the museum in all of it's past forms. I've been here through every stage of it's evolution. It is now the best it's ever been. Everything is laid out right where you can find it. If there is something you are not interested in you can freely just skip it. To say the museum lacks mego content is just stupid, frankly. We have interviews with former employees, new discoveries (Jet Jungle and Cassain), the Toy Fair discovery (which I managed to win a piece of), the ever-loving Museum cards and Benjamins' amazing book. To expect new things everyday about a company that has been gone for over 25 years is just unrealistic. That's why when new things are discovered they become even more special and amazing.
Do I have plans to help the museum in the future - ABSOLUTELY. Brian and I have talked about a games section for years. And as soon as we move to our new house I plan to snap picks off all the games I have. They are just all packed up right now. Plus I want to take pics of all the Dinah-Mite stuff I have as well to update her gallery and will be sponsoring one of her cards.
I am here for the long haul. Without this place I would never have met people, both in person and on-line, who I consider my best friends. I cannot wait for MegoMeet to see eveyone again and to add to that list of friends with the new members who share our love for these toys. I like being one of the "old-timers". I've seen members come and go. And if you are one of the ones who don't care about this place, it's content and it's members then please feel free to move on. There is another website called MegoCentral that would love to have you.sigpic WANTED: Boxed, Carded and Kresge Carded WGSHComment
