I check the site daily, but find myself posting less and less. Truthfully, Mego's are not as high on my priority list as they used to be, but I do have three kids and work 7 days a week, so my free time has to be spread around a little more thin than normal. That is life. I also find myself reading and posting to the non-mego threads more than to the mego ones - I like a variation, and this site is able to offer that to me.
I'm in the same boat as Chris . . . . as one of the old timers who migrated from the Yahoo group this "sanctuary" is a blessing in my life. I don't post as much, but I'm here daily. It's amazing how far our Mego hobby has come. If you sit back and take a look at what Brian, Scott, Joe & Dave have accomplished it's no less than stellar. Then take a look at the offspring that is directly or indirectly (IMO) related to the Museum. Customs, EMCE, Castaway toys, Benjamin's book, etc . . . . Megos coming to the forefront of pop-culture. It's really awsome when you sit back a take a long look.
I think part of the problems I see are people that are here to rattle the cage, and those who build a collection to one up others or for profit. If you're not here becuase you love toys then you're probably not going to be happy here.
Brian, Scott, Joe & Dave you know I'm here if you ever need help all you have to do is ask.
To be honest, I think variation is the spice of life. Sure, the Mego figures are the core here, but it all fits into a larger context. I might be mistaken, but if we narrowed everything down to the original figures, even eliminating repros, recasts, etc., conversation could become quite limited, if we want to keep the forum "fresh". I love Megos, but I wouldn't want to read a five page article on Robin gloves. Well, maybe I'd cure my insomnia with it, but that wouldn't be the purpose. The forum is clearly structured, so you can skip what you don't like, and get to what you do. I guess the only option for diehard collectors that want it "pure", is a Mego Hardcore section, with just items from the original series. That could please everybody.
Now somebody please write me an article on Urko's boot. I could use some sleep...

Wel thankfully I haven't heard any of those issues because I find this a phenomenal board. I have very limited time that I can spend on line with my job, family, and other real world responsibilities. But one of the first places I come is the Mego Museum.
Please don't stop any of what you're doing with this site, Plaid Stallians, or anything else.
In the words of the Greatest Wrestler of all times..."This place is the best there is,was, and ever will be."
I know I'm pretty new here, but I think this place is great.I have learned more here in the past couple years than I could ever have dreamed of.For that I thank you guys!!!
This is more than a forum it is a home away from home.
Suggestions for change I'm not sure I have any???.....
I like what you guys do.
I don't ask questions regarding Accessories any more as your section here allows me to find my own answers.
I've bought a great many items from great people.I've met more through collecting the cards.
And I have loved every minute of the custom forums and new info you guys find.
I don't post alot as sometimes I just pop in for a quick minute and out again as I have three kids and don't get much free time these past few months.
But I'm still here and will be until they shut the doors or take away my computer.
Keep it up guys!!!

Wow, wasn't expecting to see a thread like this, but I'm glad it is all getting said. This place is important to me. I absorb what I can from the vast information within this site. While I am no Mego expert, I chime in when I have something relevant to say....like, BELLY (hahaha). But seriously, wankers will be wankers and people are just people. If someone's griping about content...well, whatever. The day will come where we've talked about the prototype of the prototype and talked it to death....but it's all being documented right here for new and old to see. I try to visit this place everyday, sometimes multiple times in a day. I would feel a loss if it just went away or stopped being an asset to the World Wide Web. This site still surprises me with it's continued content library and the trading cards. I've interacted with a bunch of great people lately with card trades and it's a nice feeling to just be able to send some cards out to a newbie and make a new friend. Thanks Brain, Scott, Dave and Da' Joe.
I know I'm jumpimg in late, and only to add to the list of validations that Scott specifically said he was not looking for, BUT...
This place sipy OOZES with Mego info. Aside from the volumes that exist within the galleries, the libraries, etc, these forums are constantly adding to the wealth of Mego knowledge called the Mego Museum. The new discoveries like prototypes or plans just seem to to continue to come. I honestly think the totality of information here exceeds even any single Mego employee, including Neil Kublan himself!
I revel in the all-things-70's discussions that occur here. I share so many interests with the people here and I enjoy talking about them. And I can not even begin to list all the things so many people here have done for me... without ever even meeting me.
Scott, Joe, Dave and Brian have added so much to my life. I know how corny that sounds, but I come here almost EVERY DAY!!!! This is the wood-paneled playroom into which I hide from the real world, sharing some of my toys, TV and sugar-coated cereal.
I've held off posting on this topic, mainly because I'm disappointed it's come to this.
The Mego Museum is an anchor of sanity in my otherwise crazy life.
The forums and galleries are here our enjoyment. That is a 100% positive thing.
Why bash what you don't like, rather than ignore it?
Of the many forums, I probably block more than half - I'm just not interested in modern toys, the arcade, and some other forums.
But the rest? Mego Talk; Mego Fact; Auction Watch; Benjamin's Book forum? I check them several times a day, morning and night, and whenever I have down time at work (like now.)
Brian, Scott, Dave and Joe have brought us one of the best toy/pop culture places around, not to mention one of the friendliest, welcoming, and easy to use sites. Brian's exclusive interviews and prototype discoveries, Scott's design work on the cards continues to amaze, and the convenience and completeness of Dave's Accessory Check comes in handy oh-so-often.
One more note about the cards - stop and consider what Scott and Brian have done.
Look at them all together, and you'll realize what an incredible achievement it is,
and best of all, it's continuing.
What is asked in return? Only that you contribute to making it even better.
How you contribute is totally up to the individual.
If everyone contributes to the Forums - starting interesting threads, replying with meaningful comments, posting pics of their collection, or asking a question - it's the easiest way for us to grow content.
Most of us have contributed photos or information to the various galleries.
Finally, some people choose to contribute to the Museum and support us on the financial level - sponsoring a Mego Museum Trading card, donating to the various raffles and bandwith funds.
I know that real live take precedence, and many collectors go through waves of extreme interest and corresponding disinterest, at times.
Personally, I've probably contributed to some threads less than I'd prefer, but I'm going to try to improve.
So now let me come full circle.
Please contribute any and all ways you feel comfortable, as they are all positive, enriching things.
But please keep the negativity away. Far, far away.
the part that amkes this place so good is we can all disagree and get along. this is a great place . the only suggestion i can think of is the way acrds are sponsored.
list it and let some of the newer members sponsor a card now and then. it seems to me like the cards are sponsored by a few members most times. just a chance for new members to get involved if they want to. i sponsored a card and it was a great honor and privelage. thats the only suggestion i could make not that there is anythingw rong with the way its currently done. this place is the best place ive been on and also have elt at home here. keep up the great work. mike
There are only two reasons I go on the internet at all... Ebay and this Mego forum. I have met some great people here and thoroughly enjoy the environment built around the concept of Megos and related items. But I also come here for news about upcoming toy lines and then just general news of the day. I also come here to report news I'm aware to help our fellow collectors out. It's one stop shopping with people you like to discuss the day's events with along with you hobbies.
I've NEVER been part any forum where I truly felt invested, but here I certainly do. All parties involved with the creation of this site deserve a standing round of applause and if you guys ever want some free publicity at Wonderfest, just tell me and you've got it. The love and devotion for Mego is very much on display here, but also are the lives of the members. We share alot of special moments here as well personal tragedies and I've never seen a more supportive group of people. Brian, I'm glad you voiced your concerns because I always wanted to voice my thanks but didn't have a viable thread to do so until now. This is not just a forum, it's a family. If you guys ever need anything, holler at me.
This is pretty much the only site I visit regularly. There's plenty of stuff I'm not interested in here. I just ignore that and go to the spots I like. There's always gonna be complainers anywhere you go. Everyone who helps to run this place does a great job. Really, it couldn't be done any better.
