    DING! DING! DING!

Somebody ACTUALLY made a sensible argument with what I ACTUALLY said... BK and Anthony please take note.

THIS ^ is how you get me to stop posting page after page.

Not that you aren't entitled to an opinion on the matter, or voicing that opinion.
Anthony, you just have to drag on longtime grudges to goad me publically? Looks like BK really enjoyed that. Way to resurrect malarkey and make it personal. A PM would have been a better choice if you were so committed to this line of thought.

I don't know if I'm definitely buying one or all the figures yet... depends on my budget and how easy it is to get the figures... I DO definitely want all of them except maybe Grayson/Wayne... but I certainly WOULD like an Alfred. Yet, my posts have had nothing to do with my personal wants. It just has to do with me calling out what I thought was a poor choice on their part as far as release strategy.

And I have that pretty much covered with my vast array of tasty DCU Mego-like customs.... so, yeah, I'm just commenting regarding the LINE not my personal collecting concerns. And, incidentally, the Mattel line died before it got to Hawkman, Plastic Man or The Atom (pretty major characters).
If that happens to THIS line... what a shame. And what would be the chances of something like this line EVER happening again? I'd assume "a million to one". If you're totally cool with that, and if I'm going to get attacked by others who feel the same way just for expressing concerns, then so be it.
Ironically, I actually could USE an Alfred in my Mego collection as (even though I have a DCUC compatible Alfred) I never got around to commissioning a custom Mego one.
I am grateful for THAT... yes, the choice of Alfred for a character... and I'm grateful for the whole line.
Does that negate expression on the other side of the fence? Apparently, to you (and others), it does.

I won't hold it against them either. They are just a company that I have no investment in, doing what they think is best to survive. I mean, if the line fails earlier than expected, I wouldn't even know why it did exactly, right? So, it's all debate and conjecture. Fun for me, until it gets personal.

Hey, I wouldn't even hold it against you for disagreeing with my basic sentiments. But I *will* hold a grudge-like thought towards you... in the back of my kind mind... because you think you should make things personal publically. Can't help it.

In my initial post I never mentioned your name or anyone else's name. I was speaking generally. Again, to whoever, if you don't like, don't buy.
The constant belly-aching that comes figure after figure, toyline after toyline becomes very discouraging over time. We all want these lines to succeed
( I think) but it's not our decision. It's the toy company's. Our input comes at the cash register because this stuff is already a done-deal at this point
so it does no good to belabor the point. Now if a company came on the board and asked for a vote for which figures should be in a wave before they
made a decision then that'd be different. But I don't see that happening anytime soon.

But I *will* hold a grudge-like thought towards you... in the back of my kind mind... because you think you should make things personal publically. Can't help it.
You chose to quote me (and others) directly in another display of your passive-aggressive style of posting in order to keep beating a dead horse.
Look at your posts in this thread, you're the only one consistently calling everyone out at every turn in order to spark a debate somewhere, somehow.
I didn't address you/quote you directly until you did so in kind. Obviously you thought my post was more about you than anyone else, which shows your
ego, not mine. Again, I was speaking generally, not just to you personally. If I wanted to get into a debate with you personally I would have addressed you
or any number of your posts directly.

I should have known better though because believe it or not I've been avoiding threads you post in along this nature because of this very behavior for a long time now.
So it's not about calling you out over an "old grudge". In fact, it's quite the opposite. I've even advised people "not to go there" with you because it's just not worth it.
I should have taken my own advice.

So I will...I'm not buying what you're selling so to speak. So feel free to rant on all you like. I'll just choose to "ignore".

[QUOTE=huedell;1053250]I disagree. I also think your Star Wars analogy is apples and oranges.... different era, different target audience, different scenario almost altogether. Star Wars was an earthshaking phenomenon... this line is going to be a more challenging beast to keep afloat.

Wow, you're not understanding. My point is in every successful toy line (regardless of target audience) there are going to be weaker characters. Is Star Wars still "earthshaking" in the year 2013? No. During the line's 30 year plus run, there have been weaker characters along the way. As long as you have a strong core of popular figures you are going to need "filler" or lesser known characters to give it diversity and make it last long.

Lighten up Francis, I'm not targeting you at all but the parade of back seat drivers who criticize and over analyze every choice made by these companies. I wasn't following the thread, just read Anthony's statement and agree with it, that's it.

The crescendo of this being the gravedancers festival at Retro Action's demise with their ballad of "They should have listened to me!". Don't like it, don't buy it, vote with your dollar but don't pretend that marathon complaining on the boards does anything but alienate your peers.

The idea that putting Alfred in the third wave will to kill the line is flatly absurd. Classic TV Toys got four waves out of Happy Days, five out of Space:1999, and they are up to the fourth series of Kiss (and probably won't be stopping there), and all of those are arguably weaker toy licenses than DC superheroes.

Alfred is more important to the Batman mythos than Scarecrow or Mr. Freeze, in my opinion. He's been in every Batman movie and almost every episode of every TV show, hasn't he? Collectors will buy him.

I don't know anyone at Figures Inc., but it seems to me based on their track record that they're in this for the long haul, and unless something happens like DC cutting them off or raising the cost of the license, I expect this line will last a while.

                Really?

I am *not* lying, misrepresenting my intentions, or eagerly prepping a gravedance either (altho' I *will* be saddened if this line goes only 4 waves ala Retro Action). I guess I'm "complaining"... but only about my impression of a company's marketing strategy... not their product.

I'm merely talking shop. I thought this'd be acceptable. It apparently really isn't acceptable to a high enough extent from many of my "peers" including you, Brian (a guy who I actually thought might see some logic in my position).

You don't see the logic. I'm finished on Alfred.

I personally WANT an Alfred! The thought of a new classic style mego always cheers me up. (If he had a giant head, then I sppose I'd be bummed.)
At this point, I can't wait to see what they are going to do next.

I'm really looking forward to the Alfred figure, I think he's the perfect addition to this line. He'll go great with the Secret Identity and Removable Mask/Cowl figures. I can't wait to have Alfred waiting on Bruce and Dick in the Batcave!
