My card hasn't been charged yet. Not sure if that is typical of Amazon or if there is some problem.

BTW, they don't have 4 left (they might have more or less). They just have four listings for new copies on Amazon all together. Aside from Amazon, 3 others are selling it from $175 to um...$3,341.81.

I hope it works out. I too have been wanting a copy. I found one about 2 years ago in a comic shop in NYC but it looked all dirty and abused.
I didnt count the crazy priced ones lol... Looks like amazon found another one now they have 5.

So now… when none of you get the book you ordered… you will be justifiably miffed, and the publisher and I will look like the bad guys? GREAT.

Unless one or more of you actually were charged, I wouldn't hold my breath that you'll get anything other than an eventual "Item Out of Stock" notice from Amazon. I'm not sure what's going on here, but I can confirm three things:

            1) The book is LONG OUT OF PRINT
            2) Amazon decided to post these as "available" at a price substantially lower than the going 'after-market' price
            3) Amazon did not receive inventory from TwoMorrows (the publisher) or from me.

Perhaps Amazon discovered an old, unopened case (originally packed ten books per case) in one of their warehouses. I'll cross my fingers for those of you who ordered. Whatever happens, this is all on Amazon.

I picked up this book when she was brand new on the shelves and there is no better resource for Mego. This is THE definitive book on World's Greatest Superheroes. Ben, you knocked this out of the park. And I know this book was an exhausting process. But is there ANY possibility you will entertain a new book covering other characters in the Mego universe?

Definitely don't expect to get it- I'm assuming that we'll get the cancelled email, but definitely wouldn't be looking to blame anyone if it doesn't come.

Thanks for the kudos. A lot of people on these boards stepped up to knock it out of the park, that's for sure.

                        ANYTHING is possible.

Happy to hear there won't be any hard feelings if it turns out Amazon has offered the book without actually having a line on any product. It certainly wouldn't be the first time they've done that; it just seems so out of the blue after all this time! Again, I'm crossing my fingers for you guys. Those of you who ordered, please keep us posted of any communication from Amazon.

I recall, Ben, that you emphasized in another thread that a reprinting of WGT was very unlikely.

But, Like MIB41, I would love to see a companion book exploring other Mego lines. Some of those lines, both "legends" & licensed, represent Mego at the top
                          of its game.

That is true. It is unlikely, but anything is possible.

A Second Edition of WGT! is much more likely than a brand-new book about different characters. I just lack the requisite passion for other Mego toys to put that much work into a project as massive as the 8" Super-Heroes book was.

More importantly, the Super-Heroes were, far and away, Mego's most successful toy line. Yet the WGT! book was not a success by any publishing standard. (WGT! is much more 'successful' in the after-market than it was the entire time it was In-Print.) I can only imagine how dismal a failure a book covering any other Mego toys would be! Even if I did the work, no one would publish it.

It's overviews like this that constantly remind me that while we're a passionate lot on this forum, we're also apparently a very small one in the grand scheme of nostalgia merchandising. It's why in one breath I'm so grateful we can get new lines like classic BSG and SMDM characters, yet I never consider (for five seconds) that new lines coming out like '66 Batman figures will somehow break the trend of eight inch figure sales. It's a very niche market. There's only so much product needed to facilitate those ready to buy upon availability. But after that, the general public has no interest and those who waited too long get stuck paying the inflated prices in the after market. It's also for these reasons that I'm so very thankful for someone like Ben who gave so much passion and sacrifice to bring us a book like this, that quite frankly most of us never dreamt we would see. It's a love letter to our generation if ever there was one. And there may only ever be one printing. But you know what? That's okay. Because it speaks for our generation years from now when we're all gone. And maybe then will it breath life into yet another generation interested in what it was like to make-believe in 'those early years'.
