Thift Stores: Still finding Megos!

I have tried two thrift stores out here in CA since moving but found nothing at all.
Ironically there's a comic shop on Sunset BLVD called Meltdown andthey have a hulk and a batmobile in the store. Neither is in great shape and both need radical cleaning. They have been there since I first vistied the place 7 months ago. I think $75 for Hulk and $100 for a batmobile needing work is too pricey.

I'm also puzzled as to why they're not selling either Castaway Cap Action or Doc's Ape / Trek figures ( great store none the less)

I found a General Ursus in the wrong clothes (might have been Action Jackson reproduction clothes) for $1 a week ago at a flea market.

i went to a flea market Sunday and only found 2 megos in the wild a richie and Potsie, didn't bother with them. I did buy 2 classic Monkees teen beats though

A Goodwill store near us has gone hightech.They sort out everything and have copys of similar items sell sheets from EBAY with them.You can't get anything good there for a cheap price anymore.

that sucks, it takes away the thill of the hunt.

There was this one old lady who had an indoor booth and she had all kinds of toys going back to the 50's, maybe even older. I distinctly remember a ratty, beat-up batman & robin & the batmobile (Mego). This was back in the 80's-90's. She was asking some outrageus prices and every week not one thing seemed to change in her booth. I can't imagine she sold much at all. One week she was gone and then I found her at another indoor flea market some time later...same stuff..for at least 10 years I swear she had the exact same things and would never dicker on the prices.

yeah, there is a toy and comics dealer at a trade market and he has the same prices on the same unsold toys he had 10 years ago. you wonder how people like that afford their booth space.

I've never found any at thrift stores but I have found a few at garage sales.

The best dealers to get them off of are the little old ladies with booths.

my latest toystalk adventures found me at the local bootsale

1 x han in carbonite last 17 = £1 around $1.50

1x mego superman 8" = £5

2x bambi disney teddies = 0.50p each

i eat breathe and pooh toystalking
its all i live for lol

I have 3 good finds at the local SAL-ARMY here in the last 6 months,I found a big jim figure complete with gear in a bag $1.99,a 1974 GI Joe figure all complete with guns,hat,dog tag ect $2.00 and my last find an evil knievel with his stunt cycle for $3.00..Can't go wrong for those prices.I probably will EBAY them or put them up here for trades.You know sometimes people just do spring cleanings and these things just go to the sal-army cuz they just don't wanna deal with it or just do not know thier values.keep sending them my way..

It's like winning the toy lottery finding those lost treasures.I've always wondered the paths those toys take to end up there.Forgotten and unloved toys are always welcome at my house.Congrats on the find and may there be many more in your future.BEN

I only check one thrift store near me about once a month, but in the last year I've found a Captain patch in good shape for $2.00, and a 1964 GI Joe also in good shape, but naked. There are always some cool mego scale vehicles too, like the Action Man sports car I used for my James Bond custom.

here in Miami there's just so many thrift shops and flea markets that if you take your time to check them out,you usually find some sort of vintage toy.I always find atleast one decent find
