Cipsa POTA... (@#%%$!) happened to get a nice (and surprising complete) Urko in a mixed Ape lot recently, next thing I know I'm on the hunt.

Like Rich Handley mentioned in his books, you turn 40 and all of sudden it's Go Ape! time again,

As if a Silver Soldier wasn't enough... just another 5 to add to the list.

BTW, as I've been lurking for a few months, but just recently joined... greetings all; what you have here is pretty damn cool and special. Not only is information and resources shared, but the custom works are entirely motivational. Has me spending more time in the studio with Mego-goodness, than on the canvas lately. Fortunately the paint crosses-over just fine.

mego - The Silver Soldier Ape . . . . struck a deal at this year's Mego Meet with Merlyn. thanks, enjoy your Iron man sir!

no-mego - Major Matt Mason figures on card, last year I acquired the 4 astronauts and just recently picked up Callisto a grail indeed. I remember getting him from my grand parents for my 5th birthday!

I think in general, if someone told me I would be collecting toys ten years ago, I wouldve gone" yeah right......" I was only going to collect the Mego star trek, because I had those as a kid, and didnt even know the brand, because of living in the Uk. Completely stumbled upon them because of the remego ones, and just typed in "kirk figure" to look for the vintage ones on ebay. After that I liked the look of the POTA , so started collecting those. Im now basicaly finishing all the 8" apart from dinah mite, and nearly there.

Non Mego, I would say my original "war of the worlds" window card, just thought I would never be able to afford one, until I got a deal.

Teen Titans... I recently discovered the reason they are so scarce up here is that they never were distributed in Canada.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered as an adult they made dr who Megos. Thanks to the magic of the Internet, they are within reach!

Then I picked up a few on the cheap, and I had to have them all.

Then a collection loaded with rarities came up last year, and I dropped $5400 on it, and there is no looking back...

Mego POTA Astronaut. I swore I would never be interested in that figure as it was too generic and didn't hit on the nostalgia nerve with me because of that. I acquired one in a regular box and than also acquired a carded version (from the McNett collection) and recently acquired a mailer boxed version as well (which I believe is my favorite mailer boxed figure). Also, when the Mego POTA bug hit me many moons ago, I never dreamed I would be interested in anything other than Mego, no matter how much of a POTA fan I am. However, my CIPSA POTA figures have become my favorite part of my collection and something I will never part with. I still have little to zero interest in the other knockoff lines, and probably never will.

This could really be a looooooong list, considering before 1986, I didn't even know I could get old toys. If I knew then the things I would have now.

A living breathing Horse. 2 of them actually. As far as toys, I mostly only collect ones I had as a kid.

I probably surprised myself by getting a MIB Kenner Steve Scout figure as well as a complete in box Marx BotW Geronimo, but the one real shocker was a benbarb auction WGSH Conan figure. I had never spent that much on any figure before and it kind of got the ball rolling for a different perspective. I used to think I'd never own a MIB Kenner SMDM, but now, who knows?

9" robin, probably my favorite Mego in a combo of great design and rarity. I really just lucked into one kind of hidden in an auction lot. Probably would never have paid what they normally go for otherwise.

Actually i never thought I would own a AJ, seriously. it just wasn't superhero, but I bought one and one thing lead to another and now I am practically treading on the things.

Hard to say really. When I decided to start collecting Mego I told myself anything with Mego stamped on it was fair game. Now I have Finger Puppets, Clown Arounds and a larger Fashion Candi collection than should be allowed.

There are the "rare" items I would have bet money I'd never own - Alter Egos, Zorro, Don, AJ Race Cars, Gray horse, Monster Castle, etc. but now do. All the non-Mego stuff I have I wanted and went after. So no surprises there.

A CTVT Robin Hood. I got a set of the RH figures for cheap but decided to sell them a while back but I couldn't part with Robin. Something about this figure just grabbed me and won't let go. The funnier thing is that I have no desire or interest in tracking down an original Mego version. Go figure.
