The Mego that really bothers me is Catwoman. She looks nothing like any Catwoman that I remember as a kid. I grew up watching reruns of the 1966 Batman series, so the poof-haired, red-masked Mego Catwoman was a complete disappointment when I saw it. I'll probably still buy one, though, because it's the last figure I need for my Batman line.
I'm sure you know this, but in Mego's defense, that was the look Catwoman was sporting in the comics at the time. Much like Iron Man's nose, it was short-lived, but made it into the Mego figure.

I've often wondered why they went so contemporary with those two, but gave Robin spitcurls he hadn't had in almost 10 years.

Sure they should have made Lex Luthor or even Brainiac before they made Myxie, but that alone is not reason to bash the poor 5th dimensional imp!

Avoiding the easy central joke here, my true feelings are all 8 inch Mego figures are a good thing. There are ones I would have liked to have seen, and ones I would have done differently, but I'm grateful for all they did.

I partially agree with some of the Supes comments.

While I love Superman-- and Superman Mego, I always did think his head sculpt was pretty weak-- even as a kid.

I grew up on George Reeves, The Filmation 60's Superman, and the Superfriends.
To me, Mego's Supe didn't look like any of them.
He just looked like any dude on the street

I really can't think of one that I can't stand the sight of....though I was always pretty unimpressed with the Wonder Girl figure, she just looked too much like a cheap knock off doll I'd see at Ben Franklin's as a kid. Especially compared to Kid Flash and Speedy, who I thought looked pretty great. And I can agree with the anti-Waltons comments too. I have never owned any but I think looking at them on my shelves would be rather bland next to my WGSH, Star Trek, etc.

And for all his imperfections, I still have an affinity towards my Mr. Mxy, I had lots of fun kicking his butt with my heroes as a kid. His look doesn't bother me that much for some reason.

As a kid, I guess I just liked Supes so much, the admittedly weak headsculpt didn't bother me.

The line I am least attracted to has got to be One million BC. I don't think they're terrible, but I just simply had no reaction to the at all. I found them boring and I loved dinosaurs as a kid.

The fat bodies also bothered me as a kid, but they seem to fit Penguin and Tuck. I always thought that Mxy just didn't work. Supes might as well have been beating on an old man in a walker as far as I was concerned. He just didn't seem that threatening.

Where does Captain America stand with you guys? Between the headsculpt (or eye paint job really) and the incorrect costume he's always been a disappointment to me.

I am somewhat blinded by mother's love on him, I swear I took him to bed as a kid.

Cap is the worst looking "standard" hero, I think. But as a kid, that flying shield REALLY made up for it.

gotta agree, Cap's vacant stare was barely noticed because of that oh-so-cool shield!

I can't say I outright hate the look of anyone in particular. I'm gonna defend the Mummy, I think he looks pretty good (maybe I'm sentimental because I had one as a kid). However I was very disappointed by Dracula. The rest of the Mad Monsters look great IMO, but Drac looks downright goofy. I know that Mego couldn't step on any Universal or Legosi estate toes, but they could have done a bit better. The Drac painting on the box looks great however.

I am not suprised at how many replies there are over this, but I am suprised at how little I got bashed over me not liking Superman. It is nice to see some of you guys agree that supes head really looks like some guy down the street.
I must agree with the Dracula bashing too, I love the doll, but really, they should have changed his name to Mad Albino, because that's all he looks like.

I have to agree with Joe about the Teen Titans. They're my favorite team in all comics, and Mego's sculpts were pretty good on the guys. Too bad Wondergirl's was so generic. If for nothing other than to make them in scale with Robin, it would have been nice if Mego had made them 8" tall. Plus, an in-scale Wondergirl would have made a great addition to the Supergals. I think her outfit and accessories worked pretty well, but I also wish Mego had given her bracelets, or followed Wonder Woman's example and used flesh-toned sleeves with colored cuffs. And no matter what size they made the Robin figure, I really would have liked him to have his classic hairstyle.
I also just can't find any love for Action Jackson. I don't like the face sculpt and to me, they don't look very "rugged." I prefer the modified Bruce Wayne sculpt that was used in an advertisement which was once posted here.
