Do you go after Happy Days but would never touch The Waltons? Or are you a Trek fan and not interested in WGSH? Do you like everything Mego? What's different about your collecting now and what you preferred as a kid?

I was always partial to the Super Friends stuff with the exception of the actual figures based on the cartoon in the past couple years. Ironic sure, But I just didn't like the scale or packaging. Now thanks to the retro actions I'm in a world of bliss.
I am working on rounding out a carded Dukes 8' carded collection, plus I've got some customs on the to do list for 2011.
My on going obsession though is rounding up all of the CTVT reissues. I'd LOVE to own vintage but the budget won't allow for it so I'll make due for now. Most likely I'll just do a body swap and call it good.Comment

My collecting preferences are kinda all over the place. As far as Megos, I don't do Micronauts, Comic Action or Pocket Heroes, WOZ or Waltons. But I have GIJoe, Bim Jim, Megos, Star Trek, Star Trek TNG, different kinds of dolls, Colorforms, cars, comics, just all sorts of things."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

I Started off just wanting the Trek, WGSH (especially Teen Titans) and then since i loved Hero Teams and Mego only finished F4, it became necessary to customize. Which led to buying other lines to use as custom fodder. However if i got a nice example from Woz i kept it as is. So now i have the bug to "collect them all". But some will be reissues and i haven't really started on POTA yet. I'm keeping to the 8" scale, butt may break into Buck Rogers (both sizes)if i find a good deal."Hang on Lady... We go for a RIDE!" - Shorty to Willie Scott.Best movie line from Indiana Jones & the Temple Of DoomComment

For all the years I've been collecting, I've been all over the map. It started when I was a kid and collected Star Wars. (I can remember my Mom taking me to my first toy show, and thinking how weird it was to be a little kid, "competing" with adults for Star Wars figs.) Then it just ballooned into collecting whatever I felt like.
There was a time, about 15 years ago, I'd buy any Mego I came across in the wild, just 'cause I was thrilled to be finding a Mego. Nowadays I have to be more focused. It's hard, because there's never been so much cool stuff coming out (and I'm not just talking about Re-Mego). It really hit me when Gentle Giant came out with the "Jumbo" Star Wars figures. I collect the Sideshow figures, and they take up a lot of space. And I just had to stop and think, where's this all going?
It's neat stuff, I love looking at it. But man, if you're not careful it depletes your bank account and sucks up the space inside your house really fast. I'm starting to envy those who can just focus like a laser, and have small collections of things they truly love.Last edited by Sandman9580; Dec 17, '10, 5:21 AM.Comment

mego ... it started off just wanting the 8" spiderman but soon grew to wanting all the WGSH ... almost done with those, I also collect the Mego 8" dukes, and now dabble in Dinah Mite. I tried POTA's didn't take, same with Star Trek, so what I had I sold. I do also like the knights line, but only have the dark knight and Ivanhoe. I like AJ outfits ... but not a big fan of the AJ heads ... so I have like little john dressed up in an AJ karate outfit. and the POTA's astro dressed in a mixmatch outfit LOL
other toy lines ... well, I started my collecting days as a star wars collector in 1991 and pretty much was just that until about 2000, that's when I started on 1980's GI Joe figures I only collect 1982-85. I've also started up the Kenner Indiana Jones line, and the Wrangler Brand figures from Ertl, I also collect star wars and Indy lego sets. I dabble in MOTU from 1981-83 and dabble in voltron. I sort of collect vintage 12" star wars, I also have a soft spot for the Barbie dolls that are super heroes ... so far have all 3 wonder womans they've made ... mary jane, non-berry catwoman, batgirl with batcycle and the newest batgirl, ... but also found that I ended up buying a joan jett as barbie (trying to figure out if that makes me a barbie collector or not .... since she's outside of the superhero line lol) I dabble in G1 Transformers and kenner MASK line. I have also found my hobby going outside of the area of toys by buying misc. poster, animation cels and drinking glasses. oh and forgot I also have a soft spot for Care bear figures from the 80's ... not the stuffed animals ...the action figures.Comment

Specifically I collect Superman, and my husband collects 76 King Kong. This is where we spare little or no expense.
Generally, since he's a child of the late 60's early 70's, and I'm a child of the late 70's early 80's... we pick up anything that is cool.
In terms of Megos, it's him buying the stuff he had and me buying the stuff I never had. In terms of 80's toys, it's me buying the stuff *I* had and him getting the stuff he always wanted.
You could call us eclectic collectors.
If we see something cool, we get it and make it fit into our collection (for example, all 3 3/4" figures, not including original Kenner Star Wars, all live in the same world.) All 8inch Megos live in our own version of Toyfare Theater universe, as 12inch Figures all live within their own universe.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'll just talk Mego because the other stuff would be too much to list.
I like the adventurer types, so Action Jackson, Cowboys, Robin Hood, etc.
Some super heroes too. I like the oddball obscure stuff more than the super popular guys though.Comment

I guess I into monster stuff the most. I large portion of my overall collection is monster toys.
I am also a collector of things in 1/9 (mego) scale.LOOK
