Update: He finally replied, and is asking me "what was I thinking". I replied telling him that I thought I'd be getting the item I paid for, in the condition described. I sent another cordial and nice for the most part reply, depending on how smug or sincere his reply is, I may be doing a paypal claim by the end of the day. Why do I always find the difficult ones to deal with....

    Cheers
    Joe

The Merry Go Round has broken down ladies and gentlemen... I sincerely hope that this little baptism by fire is not how the rest of my Mego collecting experiences are going to run....

Browse through the Good Trader List thread in the marketplace. That will show you how many positive buying and selling experiences you can expect from the folks here. Sorry your first one had to be bad.

I put the auction pic (on the left) and Joe's pics together to compare:

I noticed the punch hole as well. The front of the box and cello show serious wear in Joe's pics. The edge wear is also very heavy in Joe's pics.

This is the ebay title and description for another comparison:

Mego boxed Lizard, high grade box, vibrant colors - eBay (item 190444395635 end time Sep-15-10 08:36:58 PDT)

Mego boxed Lizard, high grade box, vibrant colors

Up for auction is a 1975 boxed Mego Lizard. All original, no reproduction parts here. Box has vibrant colors, clean edges and a tight cello. This folks is a keeper, It's sat on my shelf for over 10 years in a UV protected acrylic case. I SHIP OUT WITHIN 2 BUSINESS DAYS AFTER PAYMENT IS RECEIVED AND WILL BE SURE TO DOUBLE BOX TO ENSURE A SAFE DELIEVERY.
As you can see, other sellers are asking over $500.00 for this item in C-6 condition. As you can see, this is a darn right beauty worthy of AFA grading. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
This beauty belongs in a collection where it should be appreciated. Good luck!

Pictures tell a thousand words. I would file a PP claim.

After mutiple messages and (to be fair to him) once he calmed down and stopped being snide, he did make an offer to compromise, that IMO still wasn't enough to make up for the condition difference, but at least he made an effort, I'm making a paypal claim and returning his Lizard. Luckilly there's one on Ebay that ends in 2 days that is in the condition I thought this one was in. Even if it costs me a bit more I just don't want to have to upgrade anything later.

To everyone that's welcomed me to the forums, thank you. I look forward to being here for a while.

                          Cheers

Is that cool here on this forum? I know that on Rebelscum (the SW forums I post on) it's against the forum rules to post the contents of an email or private message on the forums. I'll read the FAQ/Forum rules to check.
I'd gladly email them to you. Message me with your email addy.

I would consider it inappropriate to post private messages in a public forum. Truthfully there is enough angst between these two sites, there is no reason to fan the flames.

You have given enough detail in your story for me to remember to be wary when dealing with certain parties. It would seem you have reminded yourself of that as well, and that was the original intent of this post - to find out if a seller was trustworthy and made a mistake or if you should end your transaction.
