Requesting info on Ebay seller roback2

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the community of Mego collectors but not new to collecting. I'm an avid SW collector and member on the Rebelscum collecting forums.
I've written articles and contributed pics and info for the Star Wars Collectors Archive, and am generally a well liked and respected member in the SW community.

I'm posting this because I recently bought a MIB boxed Mego Lizard from Ebay seller roback2. He claims that he runs another Mego site (megocentral). I've tried to post and check if he is, on the forums at that site,but my account has not been activated there. IF so, what I have to say may not go over well, me being a newbie to your community and all, but he pulled a bait and switch on me. The item he has pictured is a nice c8.5/c9 boxed Lizard. The item I recieved is a c7 example at best. It is definitely NOT the same item shown in the pictures. The pictured one is crisp and clean. The one he sent me has stains, sticker residue, and dings thruout.

I'm not sure if he's done this kind of thing before, or if he had 2 and just accidentally sent the wrong item. I've messaged him via ebay to mention my distain with the condition of the item and am waiting a reply. I just wanted to post and see what others thought of him and to see if he has a good or bad history with this kind of bs. I don't want to jump the gun and go to paypal with a claim if he's generally a good guy and takes care of busines properly.

Any info or opinions are helpful.

The other site don't have too much traffic lately, so it's possible they haven't activated your new acount because they just haven't checked in yet... (just a guess)

Did you try emailing him through ebay ?

I messaged him yesterday via Ebay. No reply yet, and to be fair to him, a days wait for a reply isn't a big deal. I've seen him selling other Mego's and just wanted to see if others viewed him as an honest seller (mostly to quell my fears of potentially being taken on this piece)

I have never traded with him, so I can't speak to history.

I would use the RESOLVE A PROBLEM link. It usually gets more attention.

I think the best thing to do is just do it all through ebay ... This way they can keep track of what's happening (incase it don't get resolved and you put in for a refund from Paypal).

For now, give him a few days to respond (but not too long)

I'd think that wanting new (to mego) collectors to have info to keep them from getting ripped off would be important, but if earning a good rep here in Mego land first is what it takes to get info,Fair enough man. IF it's just hobby politics, I try to avoid those, but if he's a scammer (which reluctance to give info could lead me to believe that he is) I'd like to know sooner rather than later please.

It's weird for me, going from being one of the "known names" in the SW hobby to being back to newbie status in another hobby.....very humbleing so far.

I plan on being around for a while,and hopefully making some friends here. I'm trying to assemble a decent assortment of the Megos I had as a kid, all decent condition (c8ish) MIB/MOC. I'm trying to avoid "starter" pieces, or anything that I'd need to upgrade later.

We try not to discuss this person here, as nothing good ever comes of it. That's probably why the name is censored. I've never personally bought from him, and only know him through his Mego-related board, where I used to be a member.
