The Lost Mego Star Trek Playset

Todays Update: The Star Trek Enterprise Playset.

Saving the best for the very last, we at the Megomuseum are proud to unveil this never before seen Mego playset, the Star Trek Bridge 2.0! Not only do we have a little history behind it, for 1977 the Mego R&D crew were attempting to create more detailed playsets for Star Trek, when costing came back too high on this beauty, Vinny Baiera mentioned that they then began doing the Star Trek series in the Comic Action Heroes scale.

Hopefully, someday, some images of those surface but for now, let's take a more detailed look at this beauty.

It seems Mr Spock has fallen ill and is brought up to the Sick Bay wing via the elevator, this all seems well and good but wait, why does Scotty have a red phaser?

Wait, if that's Scotty on the newer, more accurate helm of the Enterprise, who is in the Sickbay? is it a Klingon spy? Didn't Mego R&D have a McCoy hanging around? I guess we'll never know.

This concludes the MegoMuseum Lost Archive presentation, we hope you as Mego fans will join us in thanking Mr Vinny Baiera for his wonderful generosity in sharing these incredible treasures with us. I don't know about you but my inner seven year old is hysterically happy to see these long forgotten items finally surface.

              Words fail me.

              That is utterly cool.

Thanks to Mr. Baiera, and of course to Brian, Scott, Scott, Steve, Dave and everyone else involved in bringing us this fantastic stuff.

Saving the best of for last, obviously. As cool as this is to see, now I'm starting to wonder what a CAH-scale line would have looked like. Even more tantalyzing is the thoughts of what possible playsets and vehicles they might have done at that scale- Shuttlecraft, Warbird...

That is very cool! It would have been really great if Mego could have incorporated aspects of both Enterprise playsets (transporter, changable screens, carry case, along w/ this one), into one super-cool deluxe set! I know, I can dream!

Thank you SO much to Brian, Scott, and especially Vinny Baiera for showing us these great unproduced items from Mego. That's what makes this forum head and shoulders above the rest! We get the inside scoop!

Probably very similar to Playmates Star Trek Inner Space line:

I have the whole series and while I don't usually go for tiny, they're nicely done and a lotta fun to play with.

This was so exciting to see. I like that it's a more "accurate" bridge, but it still retains some of the candy coloring of the original. The elevator is very cool, but the red plastic basket (fried chicken with fries, extra crispy, please) sickbay is a little awkward. They'd have to do something else to make it stable I think. Great sickbay bed! Looks like they made a test of it, it's plastic while the rest is a matte-board model.

It would be incredible to see some CAH Trek figures. Ever notice we don't we have any CAH customizers?

I wonder if there was a particular strategy behind having so much red. I like the sick bay table, but it seems really out of place there. I would have gone back to the drawing board, and made that balcony section engineering-themed. They could have put a cool replica of the warpcore there maybe. I like the play value of the sick table, but it just doesn't quite fit.

Sooooo cool. Thanks Brian and Vinnie
