Do you collect loose or boxed or what?

    Hey Everyone

I was just wondering what everyone here collects. All I have so far is the 8 inch mego super heros. All are loose. I like them loose to see, and touch them. (as kids we enjoyed open toys!) I have started to also buy repro boxes for them. These are alot cheaper and you cannot find original boxes in great condition that often. i will be starting CAH and PH to loose also. Another reason is display space and cost. I dont want to pay the high carded prices and have no place to display them if I did.

What about you guys? I'm not talking the completest who wants one of everything. Do you want your stuff loose, carded, boxed and why?

I actually collect and have at least three of each of most. Carded, loose minty show/display and loose to pose.

I really like the carded over the boxed personally. Even though I do have some boxes that have slipped into my collection here and there. I like the carded over the boxed because unless the card was resealed you know that it is all original and has never been opened.

As far as the boxes go someone could have taken the figure out and easily placed another in it's place and still call it the original figure to the box. Who would even know?
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

Too much space. Need more toys!

I collect loose T1 and T2, variations and boxed. Used to own a lot of the carded figures but had got rid of most over time. Had them in storage when we remodeled our home and some came off the card just from sitting in storage. Still have some I kept but mainly like the boxed figures better. Im a more hands on type of guy. Having them on a card never to escape would bother me. I need to see them in hand.

I like loose b/c these things are getting played with! If they're in the package, they will be opened and these things will still be played with! They will be put in playsets, displayed and possibly handled by children. Although I do like T1s better, I collect both. AJ, Star Trek, POTA and Batman are the genres of choice.

As far as vintage action figures go, I normally only collect loose. That's not to say that I don't love carded or boxed figures because I absolutely do, but I just can't justify the price that the piece of cardboard normally brings. If I had unlimited funds I'm sure I'd see things differently. It's also nice to be able to examine the figures close up from all angles. With most of the newer action figures in recent years, I usually leave them carded or buy an extra one to open. I never buy an item with the intent of selling it, so I don't really consider resale value in my buying decisions; I typically just buy what I like. In all my years of collecting, I've only sold a handful of items and that was usually because I upgraded to a better one or got out of that niche altogether.

I'm alittle of both, although I trend more toward 'loose' than 'carded' or 'boxed'.
I'll get loose megos for customizing and restoration, carding a few of those in 'clams for preservation (my fancy way of saying, 'keeping the dust off'.)
On EMCE and Mattel, I'll get one for display (loose) and one to keep (carded.) Sometimes a third for customizing or 'fixing' (read Mattel here) so those will be loose.
BUT, and I want to be clear on this, I'm not addicted to this collecting thing!
I can quit anytime I want to..., I just don't want to right now. And I know I'm not only one, either. Am I right?

after losing some vintage star wars moc about the same way steel lost some of his moc megos. I will never pay a high price for a MOC toy. and really have become a loose collector, and once I made up my mind to be a loose collector my love of the hobby is much greater. I enjoy it for what it is and not the value
