Agreed,I only recently bought KHAN carded for 15$ instead of the 35$ it used to sell in general.
    Sometimes it's worth the wait...

I have to agree that it is good to have these different figures to choose from. I won't buy all but I will certainly buy some.
No exclusives and no chase figures, please - I'm Canadian!

          Yes, they did.

I dunno. The '75 catalog for MEGO shows 61 figures on it (plus Guinevere who was not produced). That is one big bunch of gotta gettum all. Not that every kid was into every line at that time.

I think the same holds true for today's offerings. Not all Megolike collectors will be into all lines (or even all the characters within a line), but there is enough interest from all areas of the toy collectaverse to maintain sales for most of these offerings. Time will tell which lines hold up and which may have been poor choices. Even if the 8" format turns out to be a toy trend that ends, the next few years are going to be a fun ride for those of us who enjoy 1:9 scale.

                >The fact that it's now a complaint that there is too much Mego like product makes no sense to me.

I think it's the collector mentality: if I can't have them ALL, it's not worth getting ANY!

Saw it all the time at the comic shop....

Oh sure, I understand the concept BUT if you're a Venture Brothers fan, it doesn't neccessarily mean that you need Lost or Big Lebowski. Only mego heads will see the correlation of the format, everyone else (the greater number) will be OK with not owning every 8" figure produced.

Saying that this many 8" figures will be the death of the format isn't a valid argument, this is the first true, mass market test.

I love vintage Mego to death but I don't own any Wizard of Oz, Dukes of Hazzard or ChiPs.

For me personally, I used to (and still do) like collecting Mego's because it's kind of obscure... Not crazy obscure, but more obscure than 12" GI Joes, NASCAR etc.

It was nice being on the wink-wink Mego in-club.

With all the new lines coming out it seems to be making the in-club too big and commercial.

For some people that's fine ... But for some people (like me) it's a bit overwhelming and almost a turnoff.

The more people that like and collect Mego's the less I want them.

Does that even make sense ?

What you're describing is "record store clerk" syndrome. They only like the bands that aren't popular, when they become popular, they hate them.

You need to change your name to 'Mego Hipster'.

True; but for some reason we got a disproportionate number of Megoheads posting here.... Who knew?

Yeah, I understand that but people are now trying to say that this influx will ruin the format, it's not neccesarily the case. Megoheads don't steer the bus.

Just think- you can look forward to collecting over the next few years. There's no reason we have to get all the new figures this year. I'm pretty sure none of us picked up all of our vintage Megos in one year. Heck, it might be cheaper to pick them up over the next few years.
