This is a better problem to have than not enough (or any) Mego style figures coming out this year, something most of us complained about, and hoped and prayed would change some day. I'm just grateful the format has risen back into a position of prominence in the action figure world. If this were the only format figures were made in, I'd be tickled pink.

This is only a "problem" for MEGO collectors. MOST people will collect based on the license they like. Monster, Trek, Super Heros, Venture, TWZ, Lost, so they aren't faced with a dilemma. Those are very diverse licenses that each have their own audience. It's only fantatics like us that are actually faced with the compulsion to collect all figures made in a particular format. This profile is no longer active.Comment

I too was thinking this...except my thoughts were; I won't be able to afford it all, have room for it all, so I have to make choices. I'll probably stick to just the WGSH (probably not the Matty exclusives) and the Universal Monsters...Flash Gordon w/Ming.
Course, my pickings are based on the $20 price tag. If we see $12.99 or less...I have more disposable income to spread around.Comment

I can agree. I love seeing more of ANY 8" figs, 'cos I think the wider the subject matter the healthier for the medium. But they're kinda pricey; not INSANELY so, but enough that collecting them all is probably not possible. Hopefully if the format lasts a bit the price will come down: maybe 'cos of the afore mentioned knockoffs. But I think right now they're riding the cusp of "expensive collectible" and "affordable toy." $20 isn't a bad price, but hopefully they'll shift to a lower price point if things get rolling.

There's no doubt, I am having to make a lot of hard choices. I hope I don't find myself on eBay in 20 years tracking down what I passed on the same way I did with original Megos. That would be ironic. This profile is no longer active.Comment

I'm just happy so many of these are out there. Maybe the next generation will grow up thinking that these action figures are the "norm" and not little painted things that don't have the poseability and play value that Megos have."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

I’m very happy to see such a breadth of figures becoming available in (arguably) such a rather short amount of time. I can’t afford it all either, but I sure do like what I’m seeing (whether I’m able to actually add it to my stash of goodies or not).
Flash Gordon and Ming are a lock (wave 2, please!) as are the Collins clan, the Universal Monsters and the DC heroes. I’m only a casual TZ fan, but the figures are so well made that I am sorely tempted. The Venture Brothers have me salivating as well...
At the risk of having spare, roto-cast boots hurled at me, I can’t wait to see what comes next! I’m sure it’s only a matter of ticks until Hasbro trots out Star Wars and Marvel lines.Comment

The majority of these are one-shots. Look at Sideshows history. They created some of the best 8 and 12 inch figures, ever, and they were gone from TRU/Kaybee within two years and shortly bailed from the 12-inch market. It's the same licenses so a similar trend is forming.
In the end, IMO, we'll be down to Retro Action and Diamond Exclusives. There's nothing from BPP I'm chomping for at 20 USD even though it's really nice work. If CTVT couldn't make headway, and they're in the price range we all want, how can any of the others stick?
To me, it's simple. The format has a few identifiers and if you don't work within them, you're gambling.Comment

There are so many 8 inch lines now because the format is very adaptable so the toy companies see great potential in it...as with any other collectible, you have to only collect what really means something to you...not every thing in it's format...be happy we have a lot of choices.....as said before only "8 inch" format collectors will have to really make hard choices..there will be something for every one and probably a bunch of people wanting titles not being made"Thats the ticket laddie"Comment

Twilight Zone and Dark Shadows have made my choices easy. I will pretty much just be focusing on those lines, and maybe purchasing a few other figures from other Mego like lines, like Lost, Universal Monsters and Buck Rogers.Comment
