I'm the opposite, straight reproductions would have honestly bored me. I love the little tweaks and changes.

I love that this has a new / altered sculpt. If I had one wish / request, it would be to do a more clothlike cape. I think like the pleather gauntlets, that would have likely been one of the "improvements" over the frayable nylony capes. The belt loops are a perfect touch as well.

That also, would be the ONLY change I would make as well. Other than that....I LOVE Him!!Love the new Sculpt...looks like Superman to me(not Don!
).
My only hope...is that BATMAN will look as GOOD! And have a Cloth Cape.sigpicComment

I like it but I won't lie. The one I'm really waiting for and want is Luthor! As mego/super-frieds fan myself to me he was always the biggest hole one the DC side.Comment

I'm sure there are others who would have rather have had straight repros, but overall, for the hobby, I think it's best that they went this route. It all still FEELS like Mego, but by changing sculpts, they eliminated some of the outdated features of the old-figures (sideburns), and stayed truer to DC's stringent style guides (white eyes, Superman's "S" curl). And most importantly to many folks here, the differences will make collecting the original figures easier (with less of a chance of folks getting hosed by sellers passing of figures and parts as vintage) and those who have invested large sums of money in nice collections will not see their collections become monetarily worthless over night.

I love it because it looks like Superman should. Great sculpt job. Plus I feel the same, I don't want reproductions. I want new modern versions to collect and enjoy with my kids!Comment

I'm glad to hear that the production heads will be smaller than the one showed here, I think that will cure the slight proportional dissonance I see in the figures.
As for the sculpt. When I saw a small picture of Mego Superman in a sears catalog, I imagined he would look like what the new one looks like now. I'm not dissing the original Supes sculpt by any means, I loved it then and love it now, but when I saw this figure I said to myself "That's what I expected to come out of the catalog mailer box back in 1977"
About the cape, I believe it is possible to use similar material to the original and treat it to avoid fraying (I've seen stuff at Jo-annes for it). I love that the cape will have the yellow "S".
I really hope you guys get to do Aquaman down the line and he looks like the Superfriends Aquaman.Comment

I think he looks good and will look even better once the head mold is in the "final" plastic and looks a little more like "real" skin and not as glossy. He grows on me more and more too each time I look at him. Lex though I think is the favorite for me out the first wave, next is GL. I think that the guys have done well and have the right frame of mind of "classic with a touch of modern" I dislike some of this new toy line look of doom and gloom and dark and "edgy"Wanted:- 12" Robin Shoes; Mego Batcave, Mego Die-cast Batman-loose, Mattel-BSG Gold Cylon loose.Comment

As long as they keep the prices in line I'm all over these, especially Supes.
I would probably have passed on them had they been straight clones of the original Megos.
The emce apes, although nice, were just new copies of the ones I already have so I didn't bother with them. Had they (or if they, fingers crossed) made/make original apes in the future I will definitely want those as well.
