      Sir,

I just wanted to thank you for all the battles you have gone through just for us. This is all possible thanks to the vision of a man who realized that there indeed existed (and will always exist) a huge fan base for these figures.

First you realized that Mego collectors should have a fair opportunity to complete their Mego figures instead of paying the insane prices on the secondary market (eBay and abusive collectors). That is when Dr. Mego Repros rose. Second, you somehow managed to get deals with Diamond to manufacture repro figures from Mego Star Trek and Planet of the Apes lines. That is when EMCE rose and definitely proved to Mattel (and I'm sure to others as well) the company's capability and subject matter expertise. And now Mattel has relied on you to manufacture figures based on Mego DC WGSH that will very soon be in our hands/display shelves. I definitely fall short in thanking you enough. God bless you, your family and everybody surrounding you, your enterprises and your battles.

I think you have just earned your spot as our World's Greatest Super Hero. I'll proudly display on my shelves an 8" WGSH figure of Paul Clarke a.k.a Dr. Mego if you ever decide to make one. Keep up the good work!

PS: Now, if only the folks behind Castaway Toys (Dave & Jason), capitalize on the Captain Action line...

I actually called my wife on the phone last night while I was at work. I knew I would get the "oh, that's great dear." response, but she understood my excitement. My kids are 6 and 4 and this is the best time for them to get their own minty WGSH to play with. Thanks Paul, Joe, et al!
        It's all good!

That would be cool although If MATTY does what they have up for MOTU ( a subscription club) I would be all over that too!

I´ve no words to explain how I feel... specially because I´m spanish! Congratulations to everybody involved. This is a dream come true, and it´s really nice to read that Marty Abrams was involved in someway also.

Only I would like they are distributed here in Spain and walk and buy them, as you say, in a toystore... but in fact I don´t think. Mattel DC Classics Universe, for exemple, is not distributed anywhere in Europe, and I spend more money in shipping costs than the collection itself...

Everone seems to be really excited about this so I'll refrain from saying anything negative.

But shouldn't this thread be in Mego-like?

              Sorry couldn't resist...

This is major news and should not be buried in a back forum.

When the Smithsonian creates a new exhibit about any subject,
they don't bury it in the back of the museum, they display it
in up front with a lot of fanfare and promotion.

Buzz is just that - it is about what people are interested in
reading about - and I can definitely say that people are VERY
                interested in this news.

                    Thrilling news!

                    Congrats Paul,
it's a long way from the first pair of Batman gloves in your garage.

Just imagine who you're going to inspire with these new figures?

Well of course I was being facetious and I understand that MEGO collectors are interested in this. Don't have anything against you Paul, I was just making an observation.

It will be interesting to see though, how long will it be allowed to be discussed in the general areas of the forum? It's not MEGO, it just looks like MEGO. Where will the tipping point be...

                      Cheers,

I put a few photos up of Mattel's World's Greatest Super Heores up on my blog at

Preorder Collectibless Blog along with other DC Direct stuff

The photos aren't great. In fact they are terrible, but have a look.

I'd have to disagree ..... the second Marty got involved made it officially Mego.

Even if the packages say EMCE, Mattel or whatever - it doesn't matter ... Marty's involvement in the project seeled the deal to make these figures canon in 99.99999% of all collector's eyes ... IMO, it's not much different then calling a vintage Palitoy Space 1999 figure a Mego.

                            I'll respectfully disagree Mike.

I'll also silence my concerns for a week while peeps enjoy.

I'm trying not to be "that guy"

I have been thinking the same thing all day. Maybe it would not be necessary at first, but later on, or if sales indicate that it's really the "adult collector line niche" that is driving it (like MOTU classics), it would be a big hit as a limited subscription line like MOTU. And we know that MOTU in limited numbers has exceeded all of mattel's expectations, going from 1 character a month to (in 2010), several and with extra bonuses.

                              Great possibilities ahead!
