Great stuff ,I would get a one of those stryofoam display heads and put the ape mask on to keep its shape, and do consider pull the fliers in Peel & stick plastic clear laminate to protect them.

I think the Sideshow 12" POTA figures are great, but agree with your opinion on Brent and Nova, Scott. Also, something just doesn't seem quite right about Ursus's head sculpt, regarding the helmet. Something just seems a bit off, and I don't like the way they added the fabric "flap" to the helmet, which is also too short. I wish they would have handled the helmet in another fashion (either entirely sculpted in vinyl, or as a separate piece). The other apes look great though.

Another line of ape toys I like are the Medicom 6" figures. Great detail, although lacking in articulation. And their Kubrick line of POTA are cute.

I totally agree with you regarding the Ursus helmet from Sideshow. Like so many other people, I had to make my own helmet. I also opened his mouth and added some teeth.

Yes, I've gotten stryofoam head for the mask and I keep the fliers in acid proof plastic pages. I'm also keeping the suit in one of those plasic clothes keepers that hangs up too.

I'm also leaning towards selling the whole set on Ebay. (Suit, mask, a framed flier along with the flattened shipping box it came in that has a Mego addres label. (the box kinda opened up from the bottom due to age)

Wow, he looks great. The length of the helmet flaps look much better and I like the extra detail in his face. Nice job!

I also didn't really like the puny little pistol he came with (the standard version of the figure). I gave mine one of the rifles from the Hasbro 12" figures.

As a kid I had made this stop-motion-animation film on Super 8 using my MEGO POTA figures. Back then although the film was silent Kodak had a process where they would lay a blank sound strip on the film. It was a magnetic tape (basically like audio tape). Some Super 8 projectors had a record feature which allowed sound to be added onto that strip while the film was being played. Some projectors even and inputs so a direct connection would be made with another source like radio, or even a cassette player. I was able to add music to my movie using this method.

Years ago I had the film transfered to video tape and now I'm doing a digital transfer. Once in the digital domain I'm able to add titles as well.

Below are a few screen grabs of that shot film. It's a musical with the POTA Ziras doing a feather dance.

You are simply too cool for words. I wish I'd known you as a child, but I'm pretty darned happy to 'know' you now. Thanks for sharing the brilliance of your childhood creativity… which apparently knows no bounds.

                  WOW.

I had that idea in my head at the same time (mid 70's) but unfortunately had no access to a movie camera.
I'm sure yours is way more elaborate than anyhting I had planned. Besides I only had one of each figure! LOL
You need to post that on you tube or something when you are done. I'm dying to see it.
Too bad you lived on the other side of the state. I think we would've been best friends if we were neighbors. haha

Zira doing a feather dance? WOW! I wonder what Kim Hunter would say? *in Mae West speak* "It's not the apes in my life, it's the life in my apes!"
