The major themes yes, but that's a bit of an over simplification. There are some terrific action cues, and a lovely friendship motif that was a bit of a prototype for the First Contact theme, plus a beautiful and lyrical theme for the journey to the planet, and a very subtle but effective motif for Sybock and Spock's brotherhood.
If you're at all a lover of film music, it should be in your collection.Comment

That said, we all know Shatner was just trying to do a ST western with Kirk saving everyone from the Devi, and missed. But the pieces are all kinda there . . .Comment
