I haven't listened to many, but I've mostly liked what I've heard. Honestly I thick most of those have featured Tom Baker. I'm old school to the end.

Same here - I like the new stuff but Tom Baker is literally Captain Kirk

Throughout my entire childhood Tom Baker was Doctor Who

      Nothing will ever change that

Love Pertwee as well, but Tom Baker was my first Doctor

I, for one love callbacks to the series history (i won't say 'classic series' because it's the same show), but we don't need to see Capaldi travel back to trial of a time lord.

It would be neat to see them do a Trials and Tribbleations style show, but I'd rather they pick a different doctor/story/era.

But then I still hold out hope for a whedonesque musical episode.

Eight chose. He didn't literally pick Hurt's face from a lineup, but he chose what he would become.

I won't be a 100% satisfied Who fan until we get an episode with Susan back. I doubt it happens at this point, I thought we would see her in some way during the 50th anniversary, and in reality I'm ok with being a 95% satisfied Who fan.
I've been really hoping for this as well, particularly with the actress is still around. I would have liked to see the Old Susan/Young Doctor dynamic with Matt Smith.

I haven't really seen any of the Valeyard stuff, and only read a bit about him on the internet. I'd be okay with them exploring "Dark Doctor" via Capaldi.

Susan is the Genie you can't put back in the bottle. That piece of the Doctor's past that could cause fan outrage, I doubt any show runner goes there.

Maybe they can handle her like they did Tom Baker in The Day of the Doctor... don't come right out and say anything and leave it multiple choice.

No reason why she can't be as enigmatic and hard to pin down as the Doctor, but it would be the relationship between the two that would drive that interaction rather than the hows or whys.

One thing that really struck me about the BBC behind the scenes movie was how William Hartnell really felt abandoned when his original cast-mates left. There might be a similar feeling in the Doctor given that she potentially would have been the one companion that perhaps could stayed with him through the long haul (if she was a Time Lord as well). Pair that off with the double edged sword of parenthood... they all have to grow up and leave the nest sometime. Now put that dynamic in an Old Susan/Young Doctor pairing.

I liked that they were able to explore that kind of thing with the return of Sarah Jane for example during Tennant's time, or the Brigadier during the fifth Doctor's era (The one where they introduced Turlough).

It's Hartnell's brilliant monologue when he leaves that just demands some kind of emotional resolution. And he says he must go back. Doesn't it make him kind of a ***** for not going back especially after almost a thousand years of complaining about being the last of the Time Lords? Even if Susan is a Gallafreyian but not a "Time Lord".

There are other stories I'd like to see how they fared with time, like Lela or Romana, but it's that promise of the Doctor's to return that pulls on my heart with Susan.

Plus Carol Ann Ford was adorable back in the day.

                    ^^^
It's the fact that Doctor does have SOMEONE (hopefully?) out there that he considers "family" that kind of tugs at me about Susan.

Part of me really wishes that he had prevented Simm's Master from killing himself and actually forced him to travel with him. Trying to contain a companion who is hugely homicidal and suicidal at the thought of having to spend an eternity with you would be a great deal of fun. I always though the whole Turlough idea was cool... someone in the Tardis that you can't trust, but it was ultimately toothless. On the other hand, as we've seen, perhaps Simm's Master was best in small doses and it was ultimately MORE heartbreaking that he killed himself (and once again made the Doctor the Last of the Time Lords).

swinging back on topic... remember how many of us were speculating how John Hurt might have been the Valeyard after his initial tease?

Not sure if this is true but didn't either the novels or audio novels turn Susan bad ?

                      Forgot where I heard that
