Trek!
Neither is the greatest franchise ever. That would be my beloved apes : )
Star Wars, for me is two great movies. Perhaps the single greatest movie experience was seeing the first film in the theater. Walking out of that, nothing was ever the same again. However, after Empire, it jumped the shark. The rest is all Lucas' window dressing.
Star Trek was first and it has spawned several really good movies, and three great television series. I'm referring of course to TOS, TNG and DS9.
