    AWESOME MOVIE!!

That was an unbelievably good movie-going experience. Not to mention: I had accrued enough Rewards Points that I got free admission. Much, much better than its predecessor, IMHO. The CGI was virtually flawless and, instead of being a continual distraction (i,.e., Rise, or LOTR, or Avatar), there were only 3 or 4 moments during the entire film where the CGI reminded me that it was even there.

Just finished seeing it and really enjoyed it. I took my 5 year old and 8 year old and they also liked it. Held their attention the whole way through.

Saw it today with the Pop Culture Addict and was suitably pleased.

Decent plot, story and script. Good actors doing a good job.

I was impressed that there were only a few fleeting moments when a lot of apes were flinging about on the screen that the CGI glitches. You know that one pose or arm movement that looks odd and the brain right away gets pulled out of the fantasy?

Worth a second viewing at home when the Blu-Ray hits.

Needless to say the plot is open for another sequel.

I'm wondering if these movies are intended to eventually tie directly in with the original films? It would be cool to see their evolution into the iconic apes from the 60's and 70's.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I haven't go to Theater yet because of CROWD, no room for me in.... so, I feels more comfortable by Tuesday in the early afternoon, there's less than 70 people. I'm always sitting in the middle row with front bars with my feet resting on the top of bar, lol...

Didn't get a chance to see it this weekend, but will be checking it out this week. Can't wait to see it. Looks engaging. It's always nice when you get a well thought out, well written piece of science fiction instead of just mindless eye candy in this genre.

According to director Matt Reeves, the "reboots" are supposed to lead to the world of the original movie... Just how close they'll get is anybody's guess...

Saw it Saturday, all I can say is OMG it is Fing awesome!!! I have very high hopes for this to continue... Oh so was Maurice or Cesar the Greatest Ape Lawgiver? I know in the new movie Maurice was teaching it and in the old movies he looked to be Orangutan by the statue.

Did I watch the same movie as you guys? This was just awful. Slow and boring with nondescript characters. It was every bit as bad as Transformers and probably the worst thing I had to sit through all year.

                      That's an interesting perspective.

I mean Im not gonna rag on this movie like I do a lot of others because a lot of you guys here like this franchise and I liked the last film but I thought sitting through this one was brutal. I had heard this was a sequel that would rival Godfather II or Aliens or Empire in terms of brilliance and surpassing the original and I walked out of the theater thinking the Burton POTA had a better plot and pacing.

Constantly critical of newer movies such as the new Godzilla and now the new Planet of the apes, so I wonder what is a great movie in your opinion?

Got this in an email today... It really doesn't get heavily into details, but maybe this will give you a rough idea of where they're going with this:

^^^Thanks for the link! I think that's incredible!! I love the fact this is not a re-imagining, so much as a deliberate effort to park it behind the original Apes series timeline. To me that allows both eras to compliment one another rather than compete. I can't WAIT to see this movie! Sounds amazing.

I enjoyed the new Apes movie. It's not the Godfather II or even Empire or Aliens. It doesn't go anywhere that you wouldn't expect, but I don't think it will be as difficult to sit through for most as it was for spacecaps.

In terms of originality, the previous film was more original and I think a better movie. However, this film has more action from the get go and the acting is good. The CGI is effective and the motion capture to humanize the apes will either work for you or it won't.

Like most films the less you think about it or analyze it, the more fun you'll have. You can break anything if you really want to. It's a couple of hours of entertainment. I'd call it a good, fun movie, but not great.
