Judy Greer has done a lot of TV & Movies. Maybe most seen, (?), as a Professor friend of Sheldon's in a Big Bang Theory episode who tries to have sex with all of the male cast, except Sheldon when she visits from out of town. Also very visible in films like The Village. She does a voice for a character on the animated spy series, Archer.

Yes, (wishfully) more monkey suits, animatronics and stop motion! > CGI!
Pro Gorillas & Gary Oldman!

I'm curious in which direction they'll take the appearance of the apes. Still hoping they'll eventually get to the "classic" look..

Good to know that she used her voice for them.

New POTA projects will always have a sharp divide in the fan sector. And the passion of those opinions is as intense as anything I've ever seen. But I think alot of it is based on John Chambers makeup's... and nothing else. There is a strong allegiance to that look. For some, the story doesn't count if it's not done in that style. I have a friend who is a school teacher and a independent film maker. He's quite intelligent and open to interpretations on just about any subject you can give him. But if I talk about the latest POTA movie? He just glares at me, like I spit on his mother. "Don't even mention that film to me! I can't stand all of that CGI poison."So I think POTA sort of shares the same boundaries in fan opinions as the Frankenstein Monster from Universal. Until someone can do a new movie using the same makeups, many fans don't care to know about it. It's such an ingrained piece of the subject's identity that many can't give it up. It's too iconic. Having grown up in the 60's and 70's I understand that. But I realize that most kids today won't accept a cupped mouth on an actor and believe what they see is an evolved "ape". So new product will always have a rough time winning old fans over. But this new material is finding an audience, so that break in generations is happening.
Personally I can live with both interpretations. My favorite will always be the originals because I'm terminally nostalgic like that. But I get excited when I hear about new stories, because I still love the idea of it. But I'm not so married to the past that I can't open up to a new version. I'm glad to hear they're moving forward with a sequel. The first one was a really good movie. BTW, I'm NOT a fan of the Tim Burton film. Mark Wahlberg was terribly miscast and I thought Burton spent too much time making a parody of the apes. I felt he disrespected the material. So I'm not a fan of that version. Sad too, since I'm such a big fan of Rick Baker who did the makeups. But this latest attempt hit an emotional nerve in me. I felt it worked and has room to grow.

The last apes film was excellent. I enjoyed the originals, particularly the first one, but wouldn't really call myself a fan. I appreciate the original designs, but I thought the mo-capture was excellent in the latest film and the CGI was high quality. It has me anticipating the next one.Comment

CGI is an abbreviation for Computer Generated Imagery. It is when they do the special effects using computer animation, rather than creating a costume, model, prop, or the like.Comment
