I still like the original series and the cartoon. The other series are pretty much unwatchable to me now.
Next Gen started slow, got better and then got bad again. They beat the Borg storyline to death. Totally sick of them. I thought all the NG movies were bad too. Deep Space dragged out the dominion wars and never cared for the "You are the Sisco" stuff. Voyager was okay until they made it the 7 of 9 show. Again, beyond sick of the Borg. Enterprise, I liked Capt Archer and that was about it. But there were some fun episodes like the one that explained why the classic series and movie Klingons look different.Last edited by Werewolf; Nov 6, '11, 12:44 AM.You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. I'm not counting Animated Trek ....
List your favorite to least favorite Star Trek TV series ....
My list (is basically how they were produced)
1. Star Trek
2. Star Trek The Next Generation
3. Star Trek Deep Space Nine
4. Star Trek Voyager (almost unwatchable to me)
5. Star Trek Enterprise (unwatchable to me)
TNG started out bad(but that was ok)...got great...then slowed down...Berman had to much control
DS9 started very bad but turned out to be the best written trek IMO......Sisko became an awesome captain
Voyager had a slow start...bad writing... but got better....Janeway was the WORST captain EVER and it hurt the show a lot
Enterprise had a good idea to tell the origins story but totally had no respect for cannon..... bad beginning with the ill conceived time line BS, then that BS war idea.....had a great last season the should have been the first season...the Archer character was written badly,Bakula was better than thatLast edited by trekman101; Nov 6, '11, 10:04 AM."Thats the ticket laddie"Comment

I like Star Trek best. Out of the rest I'd say Voyager was my favourite.
I found that TNG got a little too smug with itself and its Wesley Crusher sensibilities. The episodes seemed to me to either feature a malfunctioning holo-deck, or some plot device to show that the cast could dance or sing. Same with DS9. And am I the only one who felt the Prime Directive, as put forth by the franchise shows, was politically correct hypocrisy?
Enterprise with it's dodgy Vulcans seemed to be heading in the right direction but whoever took over the writing after Season 1 should be taken out and horse whipped.90, Joe 90.... Great Shakes : Milk Chocolate -- Shaken, not Stirred.Comment

Next Generation was way too stiff.
My interpretation of the Next Gen cast ....
Picard - (probably the most realistic of all Captains) -- which translates to boring as hell.
Riker - This guy is basically a bump on a log and worthless
Geordi - (he was born to kiss Picard's *** and is the ultimate nerd right down to never being able to get a girl to go out with him)
Worf - I so bad want to say SHUT UP ABOUT KLINGON STUFF ALREADY, YOU'RE LIKE A BROKEN RECORD !!!
Data - Data was born to give everyone he meets an instant headache
Troi - She's cute but annoying as hell ... If I was Picard i'd lose her.
Dr Crusher - Probably the only cast member I can tolerate
Wesley - Annoying - I have no idea why Roddenberry would make this character.
O'Brien - Best character on Next Gen because he usually don't talk

Not entirely true. There were female Captains during Kirk's time. Look at Undiscovered Country. Looked like there were a couple of female Captains to me at the Starfleet meeting when they were talking about Praxis going boom. As to everyone going off on Enterprise, the show had its moments. I did like the episode with the Vulcans being on Earth in the 50s. The one I liked the least was the one with the Gorn.Comment

Update...
My wife and I just started watching Enterprise from the beginning on Netflix, and we're actually enjoying it. I didn't grow up a Trek fan so that probably has something to do with it. But I enjoy the NASA meets Star Trek feel of it. So far though, the Vulcans seem like real jerks, and T'Pol gets on my nerves. Vulcans are really annoying on Enterprise.

I rank TOS in another stratosphere from the rest. No one has been able to match the combination of actors, chemistry and writing that TOS has.
TNG matured from a very bland retread into a good show. The characters were still very stuffy and I didn't care much for them though.
I actually prefer Voyager over DS9. An attempt was made to capture the original's formula of exploring the unknown. It didn't work most of the time, but it's heart was in the right place. The characters were more interesting and likeable than TNGs, but the writing was worse. The absolute worst episode of Trek is the one where Paris de-evolves and has primoridal sex with Janeway.
DS9 bored me. I saw a few I liked... but man that show was bland. Even the war was boring.
Enterprise I could never get into. It just didn't feel enough like Trek. The oversexing of the Vulcan chick was out of line and just a way to grab viewers too. Kind of bugged me a bit. Seemed to cheap for Star Trek. I know Trek has a tradition of scantily clad women, but they went overboard with shower scenes, etc. It's all good!Comment

Who would you rather be stuck on a starship with? Wesley always reminded me of Dr. Zee from Galactica1980.It's all good!Comment

There will never be anything like TOS, so I kind of put that on the "never to be equalled or surpassed" number one spot. TOS was a unique pioneer of the genre.
I put Enterprise second, because there are genuinely likeable characters. The scale is smaller, so you get better interaction between them. I like it that races like the Andorians finally get some quality time. And how can you not like Scott Bakula?
I love TNG, but I feel it hasn't aged well. Some of it feels very dated, that's why it slipped to spot number 3.
DS9 got better along the way, when Sisko toughened up, and when interesting characters like Odo and Quark stepped forward. It still suffered from the fact that "they weren't going anywhere".
I thought Voyager was going to be cool. Finally a female captain. But what a bore that turned out to be! She was as interesting as reading the phone directory. And that grating voice (Mr. Paris!")
I thought the Non-Federation crew would spice it all up (with even a half-Klingon), but again, after three episodes they all fell in line and became good little soldiers. Only Seven of Nine's cleavage helped keep the ratings up, and in the case of a lot of male fans, it held up more than the ratings, I think...Last edited by Gorn Captain; Nov 14, '11, 11:31 AM..

The later TNG era ST series always had pretty unimpressive ship designs too, IMO.
The cool ships were always a big factor in my enjoyment of TOS and the earlier movies... but a lot of the TNG era ships just look uninspired and bulbous in comparison.
Constitution class and Klingon D-7 for the win!PUNY HUMANS!Comment
