    >Oh, and for all you 'SW Holiday Special' lovers, I think your 'sacred love' will remain untainted and un-violated in all it's original glory..

I dunno.... I could see them doin' stuff like editing out Harvey Corman and dubbing in Seth Rogen, or maybe replacing Jefferson Starship with Justin Bieber....

....and the sad, SAD things is: I can actually see something like that happeneing.

Y'know.... if all the disgruntled fans REALLY wanted to mess with George, they should start a petition declaring that none of 'em will ever buy another Star Wars disk again, unless he finally releases the Holiday Special.... not neccessarily as a way to get the special released, but just to yank his chain for making everyone repurchase everything for blinking Ewoks, a bigger rock, and a "NNNNOOOOO!!!!!!" that every oldster fan could (and probably HAS) supplied themselves to the new films.

I would've loved to have seen what someone like Spielberg would've done with ROTJ.....
Richard Marquand directed ROTJ, although Lucas was there on set for most of the principal photography and the location shoots.

Interestingly, the original concept art for the Ewoks shows them as far more feral in nature, but of course he ultimately decided to make them cute.

I dropped over a hundred on the then "Definitive Collection" laserdiscs, 3 years later Laserdisc was dead and I have refused to buy them again ever since

I finally gave in to dvd when they stopped releasing VHS but I am not switch to blue ray unit dvd is dead just because odds are something else will come out first

if and when he released a "completed" extended cut with the original effects scenes maybe I'll buy another one but not until

The deleted Tatooine scenes are supposed to be in the bonuses in the full set (as well as what was completed of the Wampa attack on the Hoth base). It's one of the reasons the blu ray set is a must buy. They are even supposed to have that scene that I remember from the comic when an old lady scolds Luke for driving his land speeder too fast.

OMIGOD! That is HILARIOUS! Of course he is also the one who said, "A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing." What a hypocrite. Hmmmm...I think he should run for office.

Confirmed list of changes so far, along with links to YouTube clips:

TheForce.Net - Latest News - Blu-ray: Some More Tinkering With The Saga?

And a rep at Lucasfilm had this to say:

"Yes, the updates are confirmed. We hope fans will wait to see for themselves how they fit into the Saga before making any judgments."

Not much chance of that happening based on the response so far!

So the Blu-Ray editions will not have the original theatrical cuts? The DVDs do though, right? I still have them on VHS only.

Y'know, I'm probably in a very small minority here.., I'm not a huge SW franchise fan.

I love the original movie.., not 'Episode 4: A New Hope'.., just... 'Star Wars'

                              {yes, I know it's the SAME.., that's not my point..}

And I really liked 'Empire Strikes Back'. If I get any nostalgia items of SW, it's only the original, vintage glossies, poster books, etc, you name it. Nothing of the last 30 years. Anything after that pretty much sucked any joy out of the saga as I knew it.

I enjoy having the DVD of the original release, and that's about it.
                              Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.
