I can't imagine a sequel BEING ultra-violent simply due to the fact that the original certainly wasn't really a violent movie, just a well-made, thinking-man's sci-fi adventure. THAT'S what I loved about ROTPOTA----it made you THINK. I liked the final bridge battle (especially the fact that the humans got outsmarted by their own thinking---they assumed the primates would approach the way WE would approach) and wouldn't mind seeing more human-ape throwdowns, but I don't want a gorefest or Terminator with apes.
I don't think Caesar would really go along with mass violence against humans---it's not the way he was raised. Against the oppressive humans who are idiots and only want war, yes; but again regular humans (much like the ones who raised him), I couldn't see him turning on them like that. I think in the second one, we'll likely see more of Caesar's rise to power over a growing primate nation and I think we'll likely see the humans give in to their basic, animal nature as the virus begins to decimate the human populace (after all, humans, without their technology, are MUCH more prone to violence than primates are). Perhaps that is even WHY in later movies, you'll see the primates shun modern technology, because they realize it hampers THEIR humanity. Basically, it'll be a movie that turns stuff upside down; the primates will be portrayed at the more "human" characters while the humans (at least some of them) will likely be portrayed as more bestial.
I think a good title for the movie would likely be either A.) POTA: The Rise of Caesar or B.) POTA: The Fall of the Humans.
No matter what they do, I hope they keep it thoughtful and compelling and make me wanna see it a few hundred times....!
