I somehow missed what happened with the pirate the boy cut. One minute he's below deck with everyone else, next he's gone. I know his buddy ran and got caught.

Have you seen the end yet? Explaining this would give away the end.
I thought it was a neat episode; not a spectacular one, but it had enough weird monster stuff I was happy.

I liked the part on the pirate ship most. Ok, it borrowed heavily from POTC, with Amy doing her Keira Knightley bit, but it was fun. Smith was in good form with some great lines, and I liked the whole haunted ship mood.
They kind of lost me in the alien ship bit. I felt like the writer was now really stealing left and right from his favorite movies. Holographic doctor from ST Voyager, floating sick beds from Coma.
Again, I felt not enough was being explained. So she heals the sick, right? But not really, because they can't leave the bed and the respirator thingy. But next minute, the pirates are all up and about, respirator thingy on their throat, happily flying an alien space ship with their 17th century knowledge of navigation.
I liked it a lot better than the previous ones, so I'm mildly optimistic.
Btw, I can't believe that the Doctor with all his skills couldn't help with reviving Rory. That scene felt very contrived, just going for drama...Last edited by Gorn Captain; May 8, '11, 8:47 AM..

>So she was like the Doctor on Voyager ?
Yup.
>because they can't leave the bed and the respirator thingy
....'cos the alien device didn't really understand humans. That's why it was taking samples and leaving them in stasis.
>next minute, the pirates are all up and about,
I'm thinking it was 'cos the medic saw some working ones, and experienced one getting fixed that it figured out how to deal with them. Or the Doctor and co. pulled them all off; after signing the release forms. (Rory is a nurse, so he could have cleared things up for the computer.) I'm thinking there was some sort of erxchange, considering they were allowed to use the ship at the end.
>I can't believe that the Doctor with all his skills couldn't help with reviving Rory.
I got the impression he COULD; but thought it'd be better for the relationship if Amy did it. what I found kind of troubling is how Rory's become the Dr Who equivalent of Jean Gray.... HOW many times has he died now?

They really need to end this SOMEBODY HAS TO DIE IN EVERY EPISODE crap.
They've already numbed the audience to the point of not caring if a main cast member dies.
BTW, I think another thing this episode stole/borrowed from was The Empty Child
Seems like they ran out of ideas or just dont care anymore.
Moffat reminds me of Stephen King --
He was great until he dried up and everything today is mostly recycled from the past.Comment

The writing in the latest episode left a lot to be desired; there were more holes in that plot than Swiss cheese! The performances were good though with some nice funny lines. Next week looks like a cracker, I have high hopes for that one, don't let us down Neil.
