Dr Who - The Impossible Astronaut

So guys, what did you think of the episode? I loved it myself; a very intriguing start to the season! The first 10 mins really drew you in and was beautifully done; Matt Smith's acting was really top notch!

So, one of the main questions now is; just who is that little girl? I have a couple of theories.

Not bad so far. Decent set up for the questions and ongoing plotlines which will pervade this season... hopefully the pay off will be satisfying.
The production values of the series are continuing to soar, which is good.

The TARDIS using its cloaking device was a nice touch.
    PUNY HUMANS!

I think the girl is Amy Pond's baby, that is why she screamed when she shot her

Wasn't expecting that at the beginning, when Moffat said one of them would die, i thought it would be Rory or Amy.

I'm guessing that the girl is a young River, it was alluded to in the Angel story in the last series that she killed the Doctor.

I'm hooked, loved the way it unfolded. I too, think it's a young River.

It was ok so far, hope they don't ruin it in the second part.

After I watched it I came up with a nutty theory about River ...

River IS the Doctor's wife ... To be more exact, William Hartnell's wife (Susan's grandmother)

She is traveling backways and he is traveling forwards ...

Did anyone recognoze that ship from last season?

                  Yup.

First thing I said to my husband while watching... "Hey, that's the ship from the upstairs of that freaky building the Doctor was staying at!"

Here's food for thought... didn't the Doctor once refer to Amy Pond as "Mad, impossible Amy Pond"?

Guess I'm the only one who isn't hooked.
I've finally figured out why I can't get into the new series (after Tennant): To me, it doesn't feel like Dr. Who anymore. The stories are IMO quite far from the original Who recipe, so complex (putting it mildly) that I grow tired of the twists and turns.
I guess my style of Who is "we've come to invade Earth, stop our evil plan!".
Some might find that boring, I just never tire of it.
And Smith's Energizer Bunny style just isn't my thing.

But I'm glad most of you love it, so it'll probably just be me...

I was thinking that too, until Amy said she was pregnant. I think it may be her daughter in some crazy way.

There are a lot of people who thought it wasn't up to scratch and just haven't got into Matt Smith at all. I always remember when Tom Baker left and I hated Peter Davidson. It took me quite a few years to warm to him.

You're totally right in saying it isn't really "Who" style writing. The structure is very American with every season involving an arc, but I'm not complaining as I do love some twists and turns.

The bit at the start with the recap or whatever you want to call it,I found annoying.

                            Hmmmm....

I liked it. The aliens are creepy, they FINALLY gave something solid about River, and the "Watch for trouble..... AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!.... It's okay, there's nothing out there." bit made me laugh.

I had the same feeling when the guard asked her why she was in prison "I killed a great man"
