    ST Voyager: The original Janeway

    Boy, was Bujold bad.

Mulgrew annoyed me quite a bit in the first couple seasons (mostly with her "whisper delivery"), but she was still light years better..

I hated old stone face janeway.
Not much of a choice either way if you ask me.
THey should have killed her in the pilot and given the captaincy to Chekotay(spelling?)

Also her accent is very distracting

She sounds like Liam Neeson as a cowboy on Family Guy

I was pretty neutral on Mulgrew, but Bujold stiff as a board. I had no idea that footage was out there.

That was interesting. Glad they didn't go with the French lady.

Onatop from Goldeneye might've been good. Pat Benatar as a Klingon another fun idea.

I thought she had actually quit because of the demanding TV filming schedule.....I never much cared for the Janeway character anyway but Mulgrew was lightyears better than this Canadian actress....she is way to soft spoken.

Took me quite a bit of getting used to Mulgrew, but I'm glad she got the job in stead of Bujold

It was included on the first season set bonus features.

I liked Janeway...thought she was one of the best things about that show.

I was never a fan of Voyager to begin with but one thing that always bugged me was Mulgrew's voice.

Sometimes the pitch of her voice sounds like an annoying elf

Her voice is actually a carbon copy of Katharine Hepburns.

I liked Janeway better once they got rid of her 19th century schoolmarm hair style.

Voyager's cast actually seemed more likable to me than the TNG crew, but the writing was often pretty bad. The absolute worst Trek episode has to be the one where Paris goes past lightspeed and mutates into a slug and then he does the same thing to Janeway and they have slug-sex. The pits of Trek.

Funny you should mention that episode.

That was the last episode I watched straight from the start of the series and than gave up on the series after I seen it.

I was already getting sick of the show by then but that episode pushed me over the edge to stopping watching.

It was so bad it made Spock's Brain look like Shakespeare

                            That ep inspired a figure:

..which trek collectors refer to as "Paris in pajamas"

Mutated Paris; you can't give that horror away even with a free bowl of soup!

Kate often got criticism for her voice. Critics who didn't like her compared her delivery to Jane Curtin when Jane was playing one of the Coneheads.

The news story that came out at the time was that Bujold freaked out and ran from Voyager. Maybe it was the schedule or maybe something else. Kate Mulgrew had a similar cryfest a year before the show 's final season. She knew she had 1 more year. I don't see how making a public scene was going to get her out of a contract. The real loss was the death of that dark-haired helms-woman. She has done other shows since but she was an absolute beauty. Like a Deanna Troi 2.0. Wish they had kept her as a regular.
