I think "Rose" was a lot more forgivable because it was the first episode of the New Series and we hadn't seen a previous new episode since 1989 (not counting the movie).

We were hungry for almost anything Doctor Who.

"Rose" split the Doctor Who fans in thirds ....
    1. People saw flaws but enjoyed it enough to stick around ... (this was me)
    2. People loved it
    3. People hated it and got turned off to the New Series

For me, I think it was Eccelston himself that got me liking the New Series and at least giving it a chance.
He was a great Doctor and I wish he stayed around longer.

Matt Smith seems "ok", but I think if he was the first New Series Doctor I might not have stuck it out.

I think one of my problems is I had too big expectations from Steven Moffat.
I had the wrong idea that he was a big Classic Series fan and was going to drive the show to be more Classic like.
Instead, we kind of got a Walmart brand version of the RTD series.

I think it's kind of sad you've dismissed the entire series and star from one episode.

I think they were so excited to show the new episodes with Matt Smith, that they forgot to write a story.
And some of the humour is indeed, a bit silly...

Opinion all over the place seems to be divided between those who loved it and those who hated it, there does not seem to be much in-between.

It scored 8 million viewers which is excellent and the review from Britain seem to be all positive. I'm stoked. I'll thrilled to have new Who coming my way.

                Sorry, but I'm with Wolfie.
Let's hope Smith gets some better stories next.

Mikester has the mutant ability to dismiss movies and series without even having seen more than 3 seconds of the trailer. I heard he was able to dismiss the New BSG series when one of the cameramen coughed, it was carried via a wormhole to a mall where Mike was hanging out at the Victoria's Secret and Mike said, "No, I don't like the sound of THAT."

I actually thought that cough came from the tobacco shop next door.

Aside from the wishy washy theme and monster, I thought it was excellent and everything I hoped it would be. Well written, creepy, funny with both leads having an electric chemistry. It's only going to get better from here on in so the future looks bright.

Smith is going to be a Doctor to remember, I've already forgotten about David Tennant and RTD's banal, childish stories. The inside of the Tardis looks amazing too. It's the first time in a long while that Doctor Who hasn't let me down expectation-wise.

It's not going to please everyone as I've seen from the comments here, but you have to give change a chance. You never know, you might end up loving it.

I think this was a fairly decent start. The preview looks like there are some fun things ahead. The two leads look like they got some decent chemistry. Between the wussy boyfriend and the bridal gown, I really hope they are not going to be repeating the Rose/Mickey type triangle and the Donna wedding thing.

The only thing I found completely jarring was the manual typewriter on the console. I know the budget's been cut, but are they really outfitting the Tardis from the thrift shop?

                          Here is what i dislike:
                          1) THE INTRO-Hate the new time why the lighting? is it atacking the DR and Tardis?
                          2) HATE the new Theme, it sounds like Church Music towards the end.
                          3) Not to pleased with the tardis like DW sign, why does it have to be included? It is uncalled for.
4)What is that inside the Tardis Time Rotor? looks like a Lava Lamp part.
                          5) Tardis looks to pieced together from spare parts. Do not like the old type clock time counter. To be continued in what I like about the show.

                            Here is what I liked:
                            1) The new companion,She gre on me almost from the start.
                            2) The new Tardis look:I am Half/Half on it. I will decide later on if i totally Like it or hate it.
                            3) The Dr. seems to be a blend of Tennant, tom, Pertwee and Davison.
I was undecided until close to the end of the story. I will not tell you all yet what happens since it would or might spoil it for the ones who have not yet seen it. Lets just say, I loved that part and it redeemed him in my eyes.

                            4) The story was very Tennant like and could have been written with Tennant in mind.

More to come as new Episodes come. Fellow Whovians please let me know your feelings on the new Dr. as well as if you agree with me or disagree. Looking foward to hearing from ya all.

I thought it was ok,didn't like the theme tune and time vortex but overall i liked it.

It's Matt Smith's 1st outing and i thought he did good as the new Dr,the Tardis looked cool but not to keen on the glass Time Rotor thingy

I liked it. It does have a lot of noise and yelling but the regen stories tend to get very frantic as there's always a crisis and the Doctor has to heal fast and catch up. He did figure it all out and solved the crisis using his intelect and not necessarily the sonic screwdriver.

There were some really good lines of dialogue in this-some really funny interchanges. Smith comes accross to me a lot like Peter Davison. He is blancing that warm fuzzy side with a tough side. I don't think he can be as threatening as Chris Ecclestion could be; not dressed in a drress jacket and bow tie. You might find his scenes with the little kid mushy but I thought they were really good scenes. The kid held her own. There were also some sad moments with the kid. It wasn't juvenile. It wasn't Disney. It seemed honest to me.

Karen Gillan is really gorgeous.I like her fiesty character. Is she really Scottish? She takes no backtalk from this Doctor. She might turn out to be bigger than Tegan was in the 1980's.
