Another nasty episode is that pool one where the little girl is dubbed over with Rocky J. Squirrels voice.

Wasn't that girl one of the stars of To Kill a Mockingbird ?
If so, why would they overdub her voice ?

"The Bewitchin' Pool".....that one's always good for a laugh The dialogue in general is poor. I didn't care for the majority of Earl Hamner's hokey TZ scripts. He'd later go on to create The Waltons.

As far as Mary Badham's voice (yes, she was Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird)....her voice is dubbed only in the outdoor scenes by June Foray. She was hard to understand with her Southern accent. In the indoor scenes with Aunt T, that's Mary's real voice.

Watched the classic series as a kid,some of the episodes would give me the creeps.

I have not seen any of the new stuff,as i loved the feel of the classic series in black and white.

Hmmmm....

The problem I had with the new ones is that all the twist endings have already been done over the yeras; so there's no surprise at the end. Plus, there's a reluctance to take things as over the top as the original. I think ultimately that HURTS the new show, 'cos the imagery and ideas are so easy to deal with.

Right! I remember watching some of the recent series and being able to telegraph the "twist ending" a few minutes into the program, much to my kids' surprise....I explained to them it's been done before and I'd have been surprised if they DIDN'T go in that direction.
