"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix
Your poll is illogical considering you have not seen the movie?
Therefor you have no basis to form an opinion of your own.
In order to be able to discuss something rationally you must be versed in the context of the matters at hand.
I think they poth represent the character well. You would know this if you saw the movie. I also think the New trek movie bashing is getting old but hey, this thread is a lot better than the one you did a few years ago about king kong's underwear.
The character of Captain Kirk has moved into a category shared by Sherlock Holmes, Dracula, Tarzan and James Bond, he is now timeless and can be enjoyed by future generations. Pine will hopefully be one of many potential Jame T Kirks but it was all due to Shatner's enduring portrayal of which everything will likely be measured. He does the character justice, the timeline is different, this is his Kirk.
It's so well done that it'll create new fans, who will argue he's better at being Kirk. If you can't stand the thought of having that argument, you have two choices, get over it or tear your modem apart right now.
This is a good thing.

What Alex Ross said about Wonder Woman now holds true as well for Kirk and Spock. Unlike Batman and Superman, which have had many actors play the role, there has only been 1 actor associated with each of these roles. Anyone else that comes along will have a hard time living up to their predecessor. I think Quinto did great as Spock. Pine did good but I think he has a little more ways to go. That's no disrespect to Shatner and Nimoy.

Hear Hear. Shat is MY Kirk, but now my son has one. Just like my mom had George Reeves as Superman, and I had Chris Reeve. And my kid has Tom Welling (kinda) and Brandon Routh. Pine did a fine job.
Mike, go see the movie. I was VERY doubtful they could pull this off. But they did. It didn't replace old Trek for me, but it entertained me, and gave me something to look forward to, that I haven't had since the end of Star Trek VI. New Star Trek movies, with the real spirit of Classic Trek.
