KHAN Should be the Big Bad in the next Trek film.

They should do both... have new adventures AND redo old episodes (but with new twists). Maybe they could put Khan down on the right Ceti Alpha this time. That way he's not ****ed and mabe even becomes Kirk's ally later!

This is the kind of thing I would like to see in this new franchise.

I have to second that. I think Space Seed and Wrath of Khan are classics.

Who was the guy who played Bat Manuel on the Tick live action series? He also played Ricardo Montalbans son on a Disney cartoon series about a girl spy...cant remember the name of the show right now!?

Anyway, he might pull it off.

Personally, I like the Shatner idea. I think he should play ALL the villian characters in the next film. Towards the end he and Takei can fight it out in San Francisco Bay like Godzilla and Mothra in one of those old Japanese monster movies. Trek fans would line up around the block to see that one!!

The odd thing is I put forth the opinion that the next movie should feature a re-imagined Khan immediately after seeing the film to with a friend of mine. Her immediate response was "Bat Manuel should play Khan".

I told her I had read on the boards here that Khan was not actually Mexican, but supposed to be Indian. Of course she immediately shoots back "then how could it NOT be Kumar?" ('cause, y'know Harold is Sulu).

If Khan is some kind of genetically enhanced "Superman" type, I would imagine it would be appropriate to get out of the shadow of Montleban's ethnicity and open it up for some "colorblind" casting.

So Robert Downey Jr... Wesley Snipes... Mark Decostas... The Rock... all interesting possibilities.
