I think that HELPS me like the character more...I mean, he seems more realistic to me that way...I mean Anakin up until the very end had
"a little good" in him-----why couldn't Obi have "a little BAD" in HIM????

When Obi says to Yoda he'd rather go fight the Emperor than fight Anakin---that line says so much----there is indecision there---irrational thinking---
maybe a little fear of Anakin's strength and certainly cowardice of
accepting the tough task that is ultimately really only his to follow.

The "older" Obi isn't any different---right through to his "ghost discussion"
with Luke in ROTJ---it never was any different...unless of course you totally
    ignore his ROTJ appearance.

And, I just like that character---warts and all.

Obi was deceptive to others and to HIMSELF...but like Luke, Obi believed in democracy and not ruling the universe with an iron fist....laying
    waste to entire civilizations.

Yeah Obi left his best friend to burn----but Obi was really freaked out
about his friend that turned into a mass-murderer----I can't say I blame him!

P.S. One more thing---isn't cool that Obi sacrifices his life to "save the
universe" by giving Luke a chance to escape in NEW HOPE?

And isn't even cooler that his death is at the hands of "the guy he left to burn"?
I never thought I would say this...but Darklord, ctc, and MIB41...makes your usually infamous long-winded posts...look like chump change now.

There are so many great replies to your post...

      1) Ouch!

      or

      2) "I'll try better next time!"

      or

      3) "I must be losing my passion in my old age!"

(That's all I can muster for now!)

          Good points regarding Obi-Wan, Hue.

And Werewolf... I understand that every once in a while, I may get passionate about a topic on these boards, and I may write a "long-winded" diatribe on the subject.

But was there really a reason to regret reading what I had to say?

Surely there was something in my writtings that must have intrigued you, otherwise you would have seen the length of the posts and simply moved on, as some others here stated that they did.

Can you honestly say that I was I ever nasty, disrespectful, or rude to you or to anyone else here while I expressed my long opinion?

If I ever was, I'll be the first to apologize.

Ackbar???? Wouldn't you prefer a veep who's got a much more even temperament... who's cool under pressure, and who is not quite so highly-stung?

Don't ya think it might be best to have someone who is NOT so ready to cut and run at the first sign of trouble?

                  I'm thinking... Lando.

                    Good call darklord!

Of course Ackbar would try to sabotage the whole Kenobi/Calrissian card
                    campaign.

Ah politicians! You never knew where their loyalties lie.

I mean, Lando himself might seem like a good choice, but how do we know he won't just sell out President Kenobi to his enemies when backed into a corner, and then just say, "I had no choice. I'm sorry".

It would be an interesting ticket, though. Couldn't you just imagine an Oval Office conversation between Ben Kenobi and Lando Calrissian?

the prequels hold up the story together. it doesn't change the fact that starwars is a story tale of good vs. evil in its most epic form. when i look back at the original..its damn great while 1 and 2 were okay 3 pretty much tells the tale of darth vader. the new generation have choices to make on which starwars they wanna watch first a new hope of phantom menance....one things for sure, if a new starwars movie does begin...

i picture him falling in his father's foot steps....an endless cycle of stories to be repeated as history does repeats itself.

I'm with you Mike. And in all honesty is George Lucas realy THAT COOL to have all 6 movies mapped out or is it all B.S. ? And before people get the torches and pitchforks I have both Yoda and Boba Fett tatooed on me....so that shows my level of devotion ! But the prequels were a great dissapointment. I as well had this totaly different idea of what the clone wars could have been. Lucas' premise was pretty cool....I mean where did all these Stormtroopers come from anyway ? But what I saw is in no way what I had envisioned !

                                >in all honesty is George Lucas realy THAT COOL to have all 6 movies mapped out or is it all B.S. ?

I think he had a rough idea, and when the first one hit he started fleshing it out for the sequels. The big fight between Obi Wan and Darth played out almost exactly like I heard it was supposed to way back when I was a kid.

                                >But the prequels were a great dissapointment.

I didn't like "The Phantom Menace." It seemed kinda all over the place to me, and a lot of stuff didn't gel so good. Like Yoda "sensing much fear" in young Anni. Fear of WHAT?!?! The kid almost singlehandedly ends the war! And nobody noticing Palpatine was evil? That seemed kinda odd too.

I liked "Attack of the Clones." Not as much as the original film, but I've always felt that the first... er.... fourth.... uh..... you know.... film was a once in a lifetine sort of thing. So I don't hold ANY film up to that standard of entertainment. But Clones had a weird mystery twist, and I liked the army of clones. Weird that they're all Boba Fett, but if that's where you wanna go, what the hey.

I'm kinda lukewarm (get it; LUKE warm....? They can't all be winners folks) on "Revenge of the Sith." The opening fight was neat, but I felt kinda bummmed that it was the last throes of the massive, evil scourge of the galaxy that I'd only just seen, General Grievous. I knew how it was gonna end, too. Which didn't help. Not that this could be AVOIDED; since I'd seent he original films.... but it still blunted things for me a bit. (That's the same reason I didn't really like any of "The Lord of the Rings" movies; I knew what was gonna happen.)

                                Don C.
