Loved it! But I feel like I've been played all season....or at least since "John Locke" appeared to be resurrected on the island. But I guess that's cool, considering Locke himself got played once again under the pretense that he was destined for greatness. In fact, I think both he AND Ben have been played pretty good by Jacob's nameless rival (who I think IS the smoke monster) for quite some time.
I'm wondering if Richard Alpert is in on it as well as the apparently also-resurrected Christian Shepherd. If "Smokey" can assume the identity of Locke and it's been shown he's masqueraded as Yemi, then Christian isn't too big of a stretch either. OR Christian could be Jacob's manifestation instead of Smokey's.
And for someone who seemed to be "helpless"(remember when Locke first saw Jacob in the cabin), Jacob sure gets around....lol.
I thought Juliette's demise was GREAT LOST TELEVISION....right up there with Charlie's end in Season 3. She was unlikable at first but she grew into a great character. Her story seemed unfinished to me though as she apparently never made it home to see her sister again. Bummer.

What I was trying to figure out is if two alternate universes were going on.
For example, when Jacob visits Sawyer when he is a kid at his parent's funeral, wasn't it referenced that it is present time on the island (1977) so it appeared that there is the adult Sawyer who is alive on the island and the child Sawyer who is 9 or 10 years old (I think that's how old he mentioned he was).

I'll also be interested to see if this alternate universe thing turns out to change the course of events (i.e. no plane crash). If that's the case; I would think that everyone who died is alive again including Charlie and Juliette.
Wasn't there a hint to this when Eloise Faraday mentioned that she was pregnant and yet her grown son had already been killed?

There were two Sawyers in 1977 (the child AND the adult) because the child of 1977 grew up to be an adult that crashed on the island with Flight 815 and that said same adult then travelled back to the past.
The same applies to an adult Miles who was part of the Dharma Initiative when he was also a newborn living on the island.
And again, same with Faraday...Eloise will give birth to Daniel who will grow up to time travel to the island in 1977 and will be killed by his mother (who is carrying him in the womb).
It's the same timeline but certain characters have looped back into their timeline because of the time jumps to the past. That's why Daniel said ANY of them could die in the past because even though they're in the past, to them it's their present. Sayid is another candidate who could very well die in the past although the point may be moot after the bomb went off.
I'm not sure exactly where this is going to go in Season 6...if anything I think history may stand as is and the Oceanic survivors may be booted back to the correct time. If everything is rebooted I'm not sure the season will give them enough time to set things straight (especially when a reboot would mean no one remembers anything) and still explain the rest of the mysteries of the island. Including all those new ones revealed with Jacob.
In fact, if Jack was successful of rebooting history, then the portion of the episode set in the present with Locke goading Ben into killing Jacob will never have happened because John will never have set foot on the island to begin with. I don't see that happening.

I really dislike the idea that history reboots. I don't think it will happen. This guy's theory is that when Jacob said "They're coming" he meant the Losties in 77 that he had touched throughout the years. They may materialize in the present day and everyone can battle it out on the island in 2007.
Seeing Jacob in the 1800s with the intact stature was awesome. His enemy/brother was a huge surprise. I thought the Ajira guys were Dharma, but it turns out they are on a mission from Jacob. Too cool.
Yeah, not sure what I have to live for. I just realized the rest of the baseball season and an entire football season will pass before Lost comes back.
I had to go back and watch the episode again online. There were so many subtle things I missed watching it the first time. The opening with Jacob watching what appears to be the "Black Rock" ship heading towards the island.
The classic use of the colors black & white to represent good & evil. Jacob is wearing white and his nemesis is wearing black. There is a whole religious tone between the two. Jacob touching every one at various points in time. The only flashback we saw of a person who didn't get touched by Jacob was Juliette. Apparently Jacob and the other guy cannot do harm to each other which really sets up ALL the events of the entire show.
We find out that Jacob had not been living in the cabin for many years. Alannah (was that her name?) states that somebody else had been using it. Meaning that when Locke first went to the cabin to see Jacob it was most likely the "Nemesis" guy who put his plans into motion to use Locke. The only way he could use Locke is by becoming him so "he had to die". Nemesis Locke tells Richard that he has to tell the real Locke this at the drug plane. Richard and Ben were both played by Nemesis Locke.
This Nemesis guy can apparently become anyone who dies: Christian, Locke, Alex. He became Alex (Ben's daughter) so he could get Ben to do whatever Locke tells him.
I'm glad the writer's also didn't forget about Rose & Bernard. It was nice to see that some of the other survivors of the plane are still around.
The "demise" of Juliette was classic. I hope that she isn't killed off because she is just a fantastic character.
Will next season be "It's a Wonderful Life" where they discover that they should be careful what they wish for?
Lovely to see Rose and Bernard again, and their own philosophy of a peaceful life together no matter where they end up... in start contrast to all the drama of the other characters.
So was Nemesis Guy (as we seem to have dubbed him), also the dead guys that Hurley was seeing as well?
Juliette's final scenes were wonderful.
Perhaps all this is some kind of Purgatory or Afterlife as many originally speculated.
Jack had better hope that the bomb rebooted things, or else there will be hell to pay with Sawyer's grief over Juiliette.
