Long story short: No one would ever dream of bringing it to the big screen in the form it aired on Saturday Mornings in the 1970s (or 80s).

Not to dredge this up again without reason, but for all of the talk about departure from the original, I found this interesting...Sid and Marty Krofft are listed as producers for the movie.
I don't know what that means (as far as how much input they have), but they definitely have NOT distanced themselves from it.
