It appears they took the character names (they are no longer a family), Chaka, the title, and the Sleestaks and the rest is something else entirely. Which is what Ferrel tried with Bewitched.

I think Ferrell worked best in ELF playing the sweet but goofy guy. That was a great movie. His other stuff, hit & miss at best. He's stuck in that Eddie Murphy position where you'll take on everything that comes your way, hoping like spaghetti it will stick to the wall.

Agreed...I'm not sure how well this would do if it WASN'T a comedy.

            Land of the Lost

I like Will Ferrell - I know I'm in the minority here. I thought Step Brothers was hilarious. I was on the fence about LOL until my 3 year old saw the trailer during the Super Bowl. He completely freaked out. I don't know if the 3 year old demographic was what they were shooting for but I know one little dude that's pretty stoked.

I don't mind him and I'd personally rather sit through a dozen Will Ferrell movies than see another with Shia Labeouf. They've been shoving him into just about everything lately it seems. Anyhoo, I think the movie looks alright and I'm really digging the Sleestak.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

haven't liked a will farrell movie since Old School - but I agree with the wolf it is better than shai Le-pew at least Farrel's one persality is a personalilty

My prognistcation skills shows me a a speed racer like group of Land of the Lost stuff filling up clearance end caps at Target

IMO the movie will be like journey to the center of the earth from last year - free on sci fi is still too expensive

                on the upside

                Chaka looks cool

Sleestacks Look Awsome ( hope a good company gets the license)

You want corny: Take a look at the Batman TV series... Fans of the original comics had to be puking at that compared to what they had been getting in their original comics...

I think too many people knock LOTL because it was a Krofft show... They think of their shows and images of "Sigmund and The Sea Monsters", etc. pop into their heads and they lump everything together under the same collective entity. They just say Krofft shows and figure they're all the same...

LOTL was not corny, especially during season 1 (although season three does have it's moments)... I mean the story editor was David Gerrold, and thru his connections, he was able to get top Sci-Fi writers of the day to do episodes... Sure, like every show there is going to be a few "***" moments, but over-all, LOTL holds up.

I think Kryptomaster said covered it pretty well when he said "This could have been a really cool Jurassic Park level movie with awesome special effects and still had enough humor thrown in for some light moments."

A more dramatic take on the series probably would have turned out cool, but instead we're going to get to see Ferrell and friends screw up what could have been a decent concept for a film.

I wish this film nothing but the worst and it will be nice going into Walmart someday seeing it paired with Speed Racer as a "We gotta get rid of this crap" DVD two pack.

Yeah that's true... It's not worthy of the same discussion that you'd give to a man running around in a mask with pointy ears and later on running around with his Boy Wonder... That's a much more serious subject matter isn't it: Men in tights.

As soon as I saw that it made me not want to see it. It looks good despite him, though. I just don't think he's that funny and why are they making it a comedy anyway???

I like Will Ferrell's GW Bush, but he's pretty much a goof. I think they could have done better for this unless, that's what they're shooting for is a goofy movie.

When he played Darren in Bewitched, for instance, I thought that could have been much better protrayed by another goof (Jim Carrie) who could have played a Dick York type Darren, as a straight man to all the antics of the witches in Samantha's family. That way, if they would have done it just as the first season of the original series was done, it would have been a huge hit. Farrel seems to lack the ability to be anything but a goof.

This had so much more potential than to be just another spoof remake starring a goof.

                                Thank You!!!

I never missed it as a kid, but it was never a work of art. Some of my favorite memories of the show are the lampoons me and my buddies did when we got older. I used to love walking out of a darkened theater into the sunlight, hissing like a Sleestak, and having my buddies laugh because they got it. Not once did anyone ever say, "Gosh, that was a great show!".

I don't mean to be contentious, but how else could this be approached and still be made? We all loved Super Friends, too, but do you feel the same way about its quality now?
