Ha!
Good stuff....that new ship design still bugs the hell out of me...Hideous!
Somebody had this posted on that same you tube page. Moving the dorsal forward and fixing the secondary hull a bit makes this ship looks worlds better: YouTube - New Enterprise NCC-1701 (Red Nacelles/Neck Pushed Forward)"Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

Sorry guys...but we older Trekkies are a dying breed...a new version was needed for all the youngsters out there...a new generation of fans will be made from this film.
This poster is a prime example.
This new Trek film is already a big hit.
Haters...go to bed...lol.sigpicComment

I showed both pictures to a buddy of mine who's not into Star Trek one bit...I asked him which is which...he didn't know and couldn't care less, lol.

>a new generation of fans will be made from this film.
I still have my doubts. The changes may make it more palatable to a newer audience, but I don't know if there's anything there that'd make it stand out to them. Other than the name, which doesn't carry much water with non-Trekkies.
>he didn't know and couldn't care less
Yeah, like that.

There's 3 camps ......
1. Classic Fans who love the classic series and that's about it.
2. Fans who love all of the different spin-offs (or just some)
3. The rest of the world.
This movie is only going to get some of camp-2
Everybody always forgets Star Trek in general is an exclusive club most people don't want to be a member of.
JUst having the name Star Trek is enough to drive billions of people away.
They're playing to the wrong crowd.Comment

Hmmmm. Not convinced.
I have the same problem with it as I had with the Scott Bakula Enterprise: when you go back in time, you CANNOT make the older model look flashier, slicker and more modern.
I know, it's tempting to improve, but it just doesn't work. You have to stick to the timeline, and let it look at least as "primitive" as the original.
Frak!.
