I think the nacelle supports are the main offenders here, as is the bottom of the secondary hull. It does look like a 'pimpin' ride' so to speak, and yes, I would have much preferred something more faithful to the original pilot model.

Let's hope the script and principle photography direction is above-par.

(Actually, as far as recent Trek outings have fared for the last decade.., that's not saying a lot...).

Isn't this supposed to take place pre-TV show in continuity?
This ship looks more like the 79 motion picture version than the classic ship.
So, in terms of continuity, it seems odd to go that direction with the design.

Maybe it is an Earth2 trek

I'm all for it, it doesn't look that different to the classic ship design. I'm really looking forward to this movie. It looks like a breath of fresh air compared to the stale and boring next gen movies.

To a casual Star Trek fan, or even a non-Trek fan, they'd be hard pressed to spot the difference between TOS, the original movie version, and this. It looks like the Enterprise to the general public and that's what they are after.

I think it looks fine. It could have been HORRENDOUS. Like those awful publicity shots of the actors they are circulating. The makuep artists and photographer should be fired on those.

Nothing to be sorry about that I can see...it looks GREAT! I LOVE IT!! It looks pretty faithful to Me, without looking dated! Man...there's no pleasing some though...I never realized what a winney bunch of "Be-arches" Star Trek Fans are.

I always find it weird when something old gets "reimagined" like this. I woulda preferred something like a more detailed rendering of the old design; like the folks doing that web based series of fan episodes did.

I dont mind the primary hull, and the nacelles look kind of interesting. I just cant stand the secondary hull design...its awful and ruins the flow of the ship. deflector dish sticks out to far, and the dorsal connector is set back to far (moving the dorsal ahead would fix both problems).
As it is now, it looks like a badly drawn version of the original.

Within 2 weeks, it will be totally forgotten about.

When the subject is brought up 6 months later --- suddenly EVERONE is going to say they hate it (and always hated it).

I've seen this same scenario here 10 zillion times.

I'm always amazed at the folks who get upset when someone dislikes something in the movies or TV that gets re-imagined. I will probably go see the movie in the theatres. I think a lot of people in the new cast are very talented. I will withhold judgment on the story until I actually see the story, but I have a right to be upset that something I drew countless picture of as a kid and bought models of, etc. doesn't look the same anymore.
I do not discredit anyone liking the change. Change will always happen and variety is good. But please don't discredit those fans who wanted new stories but with the "old school" look. It is not living the past (we have Megos for that). It is a matter of our taste for something. Same way we all have different favorite colors, etc.
