Boo to Nemesis

Last night I watched Star Trek Nemesis for the first time ever.
Being a big Trek fan, i'm surprised it took me this long to see it.

IMO, it was the worst Star Trek movie ever !!! -- followed closely by Insurection.

I don't know who to blame more, the person who wrote this piece of crap, or the people who decided this should be a movie.

Boring and stupid, boring -- BORING --- and stupid !!!

All I can say is i'm glad the Bergman/Pillar franchise is dead.

Rest in peace and never show your ugly faces anywhere near Star Trek again.

Depends on how you look at it. Data was blown to bits but before that happened the crew had found the first prototype of him. He's got the mind of a 5 year old and could not integrate with Datas memories. So while "Data" is truely gone Brent Spiner could have come back in a sequel since they were both played by him. But I think the Next Generation run of films is over.

I never cared for TNG to begin with and this movie was a little better than the previous one but it still epitmoized what I dislike about the franchise in general.

I watched it because it was supposed to be the "this will save Star Trek" movie. That's the best those guys could come up with? Such a bland effort.

It's another film you REALLY TRY to like.. I don't know who's doing the terrible makeup, but Spiner just kept looking more and more 'pastier' and bloated as the films went on. Very little of the Next Gen charm or charisma was left by this point.

'First Contact' was a killer first film ~ I find it hard to accept that the combined 'creative juices' cannot come up with a suitable script, or Berman and Co. even know a dud script when they read it. With the exception of 'Contact', it's like the whole Next Gen experience has been on auto-pilot since Season 5 and the DS9 rollout..

As even Levar Burton once publically noted while addressing a con crowd, Nemesis 'just sucked'. You can find this on Youtube.

You'd wish, as with 'Undiscovered Country' that the old crew could simply be shown sailing into the sunset, that the same would be true here..

A huge pity.

The only highlight was Dina Meyer of Birds of Prey was in it as a Romulan Commander. I haven't seen it since it was released.

This was a ho-hum film. As bad as Insurrection. All this great stuff is suppossed to happen and by the end it's like, Who cares?

The film is written by the scriptwriter for Any Given Sunday, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Aviator and The Time Machine remake. How did he go wrong!?!?!?!

Word on the street was Brent Spinner had considered not doing this movie. Not because he didn't like the movie but because he was tired of negotiating his salary with Paramount for each next ST film. Apparently they had to find a paycheck large enough to fufill his ego for each film. A good actor but this guy is full of himself. Likely the killing off of Data and intorduction of the prototype was his idea. Kill me off if Paramount wont pay me what I want but maybe I'll be back if management changes and a new manager pays my price. Thing is, unlike Data, Spinner ages and putting on the make-up only highlights that.

I liked it too. And BTW...First Contact was not the first TNG movie, Generations was. (I have the whole set of all 10 movies).

Michael Pillar died from cancer in 2005, so you don't have to worry about his ugly face anymore. To be fair, he was instrumental in a lot of good Trek over the years. As was Berman, minus the G.

I agree Nemesis was pretty painful, as was Insurrection. I'm not the biggest fan of First Contact either, tho it's certainly the best of the offerings. For me, the TNG crew just never worked that well when taken out of their regular element of serialized TV. Everything just seemed kinda awkward and forced, made all the more apparent by the weak movie storylines.

I liked Nemesis. To me, it's a good two-parter TV episode. It has it's weak points, yes, but at least Picard's brain wasn't stolen by aliens and later returned using only salt and pepper shakers....

And at least it wasn't Voyager. To me, that series killed off Trek. Boooooring....

Poor, poor, poor, poor, poor....that about sums it up for me....I've only seen it in it's entirity once...every other attempt to watch it makes me sleep or turn it off in disgust.....
