I'd thought I'd let everybody know there were no problems playing anything I tried on the couple discs I tested on the UK set release. A much cheaper alternative to the US. I hear the price difference is partly to compensate for the value added tax UK citizens get charged on these purchases but of course does not get charged to US people importing the set. I plan to get get the Hitchcock blu ray set through Amazon UK too.

But I worked hard to get a DVD collection, I'll not start replacing discs any time soon...
That is pretty much how I feel. While the improvment is amazing, I could not afford to swap what I have for what I would need.

I've converted a number of movies to blu ray. But like many have said here, I will never convert my entire collection. That would be a massive undertaking. But I am building a pretty good Blu ray collection on it's own merits because I can buy them dirt cheap (One advantage I didn't have when regular DVD's ruled the market place). So while something like this is tempting, I'll wait for it to be less novel come next season and get it for a third of the price.

Even though I don't have a Blu Ray player yet, I buy the occasional movie when the price is right and I don't have it on DVD yet (or the extras are interesting and not available on DVD).
I did the same thing with DVDs: I had about 30 before I bought a player, so I had plenty to watch when I finally got one.

Prices for a lot of Blu Rays are really reasonable now.
I think I'll get one next year.

Good to hear. How did Amazon UK package the set they sent to you? I've heard a couple people on other forums saying that it was sent to them in basically a big bubble envelope, and they arrived damaged. I've only ordered a movie box set once from Amazon UK, but that was a couple years ago, and I remember it coming in a sturdy box.

Mine came in a box, no problems there.

                I can't see myself getting a Blu-ray player for these upgrades--yet.

But I might take the plunge for the new Chaney "Phantom of the Opera" blu-ray release.
