sorry, I'm not rebuying these so I can see Lugosi's pores.

These are long overdue restorations of historically and cuturally significant movies and is something to truly celebrate. The restorations don't update or change the movies. They only try to repair the ravages of time. It's unlikely Dracula has looked and sounded this good since its original 1931 theatrical run. I think, also, some people may not realise that a 35 mm print is in high definition. The deteriorated washed out and muddy sounding copies of copies we've seen on TV and home video over the years are not what the films originally looked and sounded like. I've wanted a true restoration of Dracula for years. I'm very excited and nothing is get me down over this. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

It's a lot more than that Thunderbolt...it's about seeing and hearing EVERYTHING that you've been missing. Look at those comparison shots again. The middle one in particular. Both sides of that fantastic Dracula's crypt set are virtually nonexistent in the DVD version. It's about seeing the film as it actually is...as it was meant to be seen by the artists who made it. Now all the meticulous work of the actors, director, costume and set designers, and especially Jack Pierce's fantastic makeup can truly shine.Comment

I'm planning on making this set a Christmas present request from my family to me.I've already been a Blu-ray convert for years now, but the Creature 3D Blu-ray may be the disc that finally makes me consider upgrading my HDTV to a 3D compatible one.

I had a kid in the electronics dept. of Freddy's try so hard to sell me on the new 3D TVs. I let him go on for about 20 minutes before my wife came over and pulled me away, apologizing to the kid: "He's messing with you, people with one eye can't see 3D." As bewildered as I could sound, I asked my wife: "So, it's not like the chess game on the Millinium Falcon?" lolComment

I'm not going out and re-buying everything on Blu-Ray, but I have purchased some of my favorite films I own on DVD. And with films like Dracula and Frankenstein, that are obviously old and in poor shape, the restoration and Blu-Ray presentation (if done right) is a true leap forward, and worth another purchase. I just wish they hadn't lumped them altogether like this.

Finally broke down and bought a Blu-Ray player, much to the chagrin of my wife. But we needed it because the DVD/VCR combo player was too large for the new media cradenza. Looking forward to expanding the Blu-Ray collection with stuff like this.
