What was your 8th grade class trip ?

Highschool begins at grade 9 .... usually kids are about 14 years old

Not everywhere. High school here is grades 10, 11 and 12. I graduated at 17. Jr High is grades 7, 8 and 9.

That's the way it used to be here in Oakland. About 9 years ago, they changed it so that grade school stops at 5th grade, instead of 6th. So now "middle school" is 6, 7, 8 and High school is 9, 10, 11, 12. But I still lucked out!

BTW...when I lived in NYC, our 6th grade class trip was to Philadelphia. We had to sell Dunkin' Donuts Munchkins to raise money to go.

It's slowly changing here as well HG. But the old schools (like my old junior high and high school) aren't changing. It's mainly new schools and "magnet" schools.

Our band went to Washington DC and played in front of the president of the US. All I can remember is when we stopped on our way there, I bought a stuffed animal and told the guys that I was giving it to a girl on this trip. Well, the truth was that I missed my mother and slept with him. He was a dog named Lonesome Bones. LOL

so this year, we get to go to 3 different schools everyday..yea.....

I had a sixth grade camp where they shipped us away for a week and we had to do "Lord of the Flies" like things. In the eighth grade, I do remember a field trip to Kings Dominion in VA. but that was for one day.

5th grade we had a week long camping trip ... it was may 1988 ... and all during sept. 1987 they had caught a serial killer but he hid the bodies just up the road from the camp ... and they still were finding remains ... so yeah during one of our little hikes ... we find old police mark off tape and could tell where one body had been found ... oh what fun for 11 year olds ... might be why I hate camping.

for 8th grade we when to Silver Falls State Park, wow ... to kids who grew up in Silverton going to Silver Falls was like going to the city park lol lol.

We went to the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in the eighth grade. We went to a local dairy farm the previous year if I remember right. We didn't have any field trips in high school.

Here we were just nursery, infants school then junior school...then we went to secondary school at 11 and were 1st years right up to 5th years and if you stayed on you were 6th formers ( 16 yrs) and then college or university.
The only trips we had were educational ones, we went to swanage (lower western coast in Dorset) for a week as a geography trip to see the effects of coastal erosion.

Washington DC. It was a lot of fun, other than many of my classmates shoplifitng from the street vendors.
