What was your 8th grade class trip ?

Mine was a NYC extravaganza ....
    Including .........

    Battery Park

NYC's China Town (we had Lunch)

Tour of the Fulton Fish Market

Tour through the NY Daily News (and seeing the sets from Superman The Movie --- which was being filmed at the time)

Supper at the famous Mama Leone's

and finishing up with seeing the Braodway show Beatlemania --- at the Lunt Fontanne theatre.

All done in one day, and we didn't even stay over night.

It was a great class trip.

      Hershey Park.

We even absconded with one of the bus sign-up sheets so we could get all of our friends on to one bus (3 buses made the trip). It was a blast and it was back when you toured the actual chocolate factory. Now you can only tour an animatronic representation of the factory.

All day marchs, constantly being monitored, wearing dogtags and uniforms. It had a prison like atmosphere.....

Mine was a trip to Lincoln Zoo, and then a brief stop at Chinatown. 22 years ago and yet I still remember it pretty clearly. I spent most of the time listening to "Blizzard Of Oz" on my walkman

We had to raise money or just get it from our parents.

Our school was pretty lenient with the money issue.

Not all kids participated in every single money raising event.
The school really didn't care --- as long as you made an effort at a few of the money raising events.

and they never asked our parents for a cent.

Nobody was left out in the end.

Perhaps that was an advantage of going to a country/suburb school.
Everybody (including the school) took care of one another.

                    We had two trips actually.

One was a week long camp up in the mountains near Camp David. We had to put up with some square dancing and singing "home on the range" but otherwise, it was a good time.

The other trip was a two day trip....drove down to Kings Dominion in Richmond, VA from Maryland. We then headed down to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, VA. I think we rode the bus from King's Dominion to a hotel somewhere near Busch Gardens spent the day there and then took the trip home. My parents never took us to amusement parks so it was my first time visiting both.
