You have to include the Penguin...after the Joker...he's Batman's most popular and famous villain.

Hoping against hope they do SOMETHING right? I don't know. I have been a Batman fan since I can remember. He's my favorite character of all time and I'd like to see him done properly so I talk about it I guess.

So in Batman Lore - is there a back story / real name for the Penguin?

AND. . .did you do those mock up Pics Hector? Pretty darn good job!

I like your ultra refined, opera going, gentleman with a psychotic streak too Hector - pretty cool description.

Of course. . .perhaps an obvious choice may NOT be the best one. I couldn't comprehend Keaton as Batman when they announced it. . .but quite enjoyed him in the movies. Heath Ledger is another surprise. I thought WHAT ARE THEY THINKING, when I heard he was picked for Joker. So Perhaps the obvious choices aere not always the best!

I agree with Brian and Dane...the Penguin doesn't do it for me. Granted I have Burgess Meredith's excellent "Waugh! Waugh! Waugh!" portrayal etched in my brain, but Penguin doesn't seem to be a real threat to Bats. I think Batman's villains work best when they're just as psychotic as he is (he does dress up as a giant bat after all). Penguin is just a notch above any other thug gangster type. In fact, he's usually not portrayed as being an Arkham inmate but a regular prisoner (Blackgate).

The tricky thing is, after the chaos the Joker brought to Gotham, where do you go for an encore? Riddler possibly. And will they ever introduce a Robin? Is he needed to bring Batman back into the light a little after the final events of "The Dark Knight"?

Clayface would be interesting but I doubt they'd use him. The 3rd version would be cool.

The only way I'd want to see the Penguin is as a background character, he's not interesting enough. Riddler is my favourite Bat villain and I can't imagine using him either.

Oswald C. Cobblepot is the Penguin's real name....his back story is his father died of pneumonia (he forgot to take his umbrella). As a result, Oswald's mother always insisted he carry his. She was an overprotective mom who dressed him weird (his natural looks didn't help). Because of this, the school kids picked on him, calling him a "penguin" becuase of his attire and the way he waddled. His bird motif came from the birdshop his mother owned.

Christian Bale is supposedly on record as saying he would be opposed to bringing in Robin. Does Robin fit in with the new realistic Batman? What outfit would he wear? Surely not the classic costume.

Robin won't work with this version of Bats. They'd have to change the character too much.

I don't even wanna see Penguin in these new Movies... Atleast not yet. While I wouldn't mind the Riddler,.. I want some new Faces. Clayface & Killer Croc or even ManBat, sound very cool with me. Let the Batman take on something he has to combat his Wit's against,.. vs thier size & strength. While I liked Penguin as a Kid,.. other than memories,.. I don't share to much love for the character today.... He's a rediculous villian imo.

If he were in the film,... there is no way any sorta love for the green undies would even happen. lol

Oh man, there CANNOT be a Robin in this series. It'll ruin it. Philip Seymour Hoffman is the man, but I don't know if he would want to take a sort of backseat role as the penguin, who would almost certainly be just some sort of crime lord, and not a key villain. Something similar to Falcone.

It's tough to say where they go from here villain-wise. The Riddler could be interesting, but maybe a bit too goofy. I'm opposed to any "supernatural" type character, like the man-bat or clayface in this series. I have to agree with those saying catwoman is probably the next best option, hopefully with two-face in a supporting role.

The Dark Knight film was the all time best interpretation of Batman...so I have no clue what else to say to you.
