I really hope the Penguin isn't in any of these movies. I just don't find the character believable.

I keep reading on fanboy sites about this guy. Michael Lerner. I never heard of him. Some are saying he is the guy on the list for a Penguin. Anybody know what I am talking about?

I did a google on him and a bunch of pix came up. This is one.

If Nolan gets someone like Philip Seymour Hoffman (or any of the others posted here), he's already half there because that's a first-class actor...Seymour could certainly take the role of the Penguin into a different direction like Ledger approached the Joker.

He could be like this well-dressed short gangster (kinda like Scarface)...who just happens to dress in tuxedos (perhaps he's an opera fan or something), has an affection for umbrellas (collector), and occasionally even wears a top hat (but only once or twice in the movie). Seymour will bring his own voice into the role, he would not be copying the previous Penguins and talk with that quack, quack, quack, bird voice, lol. He could be an eloquent speaker, very refine, the total opposite of Tim Burton's Danny DeVito Penguin. A gentleman with a vicious streak.

Oh perhaps...Nolan will bypass how the Penguin dresses...and just have a short gangster...and he is simply called Penguin because he's short and pudgy and has a slightly large nose.

But I like the opera thingie...the Penguin simply likes to attend events were a tuxedo is needed...and with his physical attributes...the Penguin monicker makes sense.

Then can certainly go in many directions here.

So yes, I think the Penguin character could be handled in a realistic way.

Since I doubt I'll watch Dark Knight or any new movie with this Batman, I could care less but it sure would be nice if they did Penguin as just a short, pudgy guy as opposed to a mutant like Batman Returns. Man that was awful.

I just found out he is 67 years old.

Kinda old for the role.

lerner is in a lot of stuff..kinda a "B" rated actor...you know? he was in the remake of godzilla back in the 90's...he's in a bunch of stuff that i cant think of right now...
